Cool, just need an add-on for the thumb slip,is there an alternative controller thats identical to the xbox for the ps3?
For me the xbox grips better and avoids the finger and thumbs slipping .

i found i had a problem with the ps3 controller too, after switching from an xbox360 and i immediately ordered these triggers from amazon, i paid £4.98 including delivery!!!
these triggers are the dogs b*ll*x.

There is however an alternative!! You can use a wired 360 controller with one of these -

Yeah just heard about the xcm cross battle adapter i've seen them on ebay £40 import on ebay, abit pricey.
The step by step guide just looks too demanding of my time, easier way would be to heat up a rounded metal and burn the shape into the sticks.

Heh, £2 is still £2 more than it should be to fix the already overpriced controllers serious basic design flaws.

I honestly wished Sony would just rehash the design. Its been going since the launch of the original PS and just badly needs updating.

:? Why go to all that trouble and use the 360s d-pad?

Yeah, it'll only be a few hundred thousand £ for R&D, create new presses, lawyers fees for new contracts with the new suppliers etc. Reckon such a simple change would make them sell more consoles? If not then it's not in their best interests and the current controllers are fine for the vast majority of PS2 & 3 owners.

For the rest of us, companies have add ons. THink of it like a new stereo in a car - most are happy with stock but for the rest who do not rate the Sound Quality you are welcome to upgrade.
#11
i agree i think they should have been like this from the start

what do these things do exactly? are they useful

Read above. Others are already saying they play more games on their 360 because of the crappy ps3 controller. This isn't uncommon - I have both systems and sway towards the 360 on dual format releases for this reason. As do two of my mates.

Thats a pretty stupid thing to say to be honest when you look at the scale of the games industry and how much it is worth, and how cutthroat it is. Sony cant afford to give MS any advantages at all, but they are doing just that, by churning out second rate crappy controllers that put people off playing on their console.

I'm not putting a downer on this deal at all, its a good deal, and pretty essential for PS3 owners. I just think its terrible that they have to buy third party addons to solve very very simple basic cock-ups by sony.

Tbh hands don't slip off the pad very often anyways so...

But something like this overcomes the majority of the issues. If this was a general consesus, AND it was in Sony's best interest, would you not have thought this would have been resolved by now? Just cause some people on here do not like the pad, does not mean that Sony is losing £m due to it? I am sure Microsoft would have patented their design but Sony OR an aftermarket company could have produced a 'better' controller?

Perhaps more people buy xbox games because the online facility is perceived to be better and the games are cheaper?

I prefer a PS3 as can use a G25, like to play proper 1080p games (games that are for both consoles are only 720 max) and i use Play TV as do not need sky. I bought these triggers but for the games I use, it feels better but doesn't make a difference.

I think i'm just getting annoyed about the xbox / ps3 comparison. They're different consoles.

I think its terrible you have to pay to use your online services.

With these the ps3 dualshock is the best controller I have ever used. Without them it is still the best but just not as good.

I think its terrible that you don't know how to read. Let me help you.

I said, I own both consoles. My post states, that I am annoyed that Sony just cannot be arsed to redesign the pad for the PS3 despite its very very obvious flaws.

And, I'd just like to say, that I'm fine paying for the 360 live service, as it is far, far superior to the PS3 service. There are masses more people online on the 360, it is way faster, has far better services and features, and I'm happy to pay my 50p a week to carry on enjoying a GOOD service.

Example, I have SF4 on both 360 and PS3. On the PS3, there are about 5 people playing it online each day. It can literally take me 20 minutes sometimes just to find a single person to play against. But on the 360 there are hundreds at absolutely any time. I struggle to join matches because they're always full before I can even click the join button!

On the other hand, I love the PS3s media capabilities. I love the way I can just copy mp3's onto the hard drive to keep them on there (can't even do that on 360, sigh), I love the card readers (USB memory card reader works on the 360 though, so not too bad), and other things.

Swings and roundabouts. Just that each of their faults are tiny obvious things, that could so easily be fixed and turn good consoles into great consoles.

I got these for the PS3 and they really do make the trigger easier to use and it feels really good too. Well worth this price

Hell, I don't know what people are doing with their controllers, or how sweaty their hands get, because my fingers never slip at all. :o

Also, everyone I know who prefers the 360 controller are 'core 360 players. Conversely, everyone I know who prefers the dualshock are 'core PS1/2/3 players. Whatever you're used to is generally what you'll find most comfortable.

PS3 D pad is better*, fact. 360 D pad is pretty unusable.

360 Triggers/analogues are better*, also fact.

*better taken as from my own opinion, and general consensus of everybody who owns either.

Some people prefer PS3 pad i.e. me (cause I think the 360 pad is proper *****)

What utter tosh! You play more games on the 360 because of the fact that you fingers slip off buttons on the PS3 controller. Just listen to yourself for gods sake! Madness!
I would think that the PS3 cost and the lack of exclusive AAA titles are more important reasons why the PS3 is in third place this gen.

Hmm, I'd disagree. Looking over to my games here, the following are 1080p for both PS3 and 360 formats:

Bioshock
GTA4
Fallout 3
Mirror's Edge
GRiD
Orange Box
Assassin's Creed

Its true. I hate the entire PS3 pad design and it puts me off using it. You wouldn't play on a Wii with a NES pad, would you? No. So why do we have to play on a PS3 with a PSone pad? As that is what it is. Its a rubbish, aged design with so much wrong, that Sony just seem to keep refusing to revise. The analogues were tacked on where they are because thats the only place they could put them, everything curves the wrong way, its a decent size and quality, but thats pretty much it.

Brilliant arguement. No, really. By the way, the word is 'Afford', not 'Offered'.

And in that same breath, you only play on your PS3, because you can't 'offered' (lol) a decent online service, right?

Yawn. What next, fancy 'ROFL' spamming me?
#30
Get these! Although 2 quid may seem a lot when you open the packet and get 2 small pieces of plastic, after just 10 minutes of play you'll know that it was money well spent. They clip on securely and really do improve the controller.

I agree, but I also think that the 360 analogues are not as sensitive as PS3 analogue sticks, from what I've played. 360 battery packs really annoying, fingers always hit it, PS3 controller doesn't have the battery pack so it feels better. On the other hand because of the massive battery pack, 360 controller holds a charge for a long time, PS3 controller lasts about 8 hours. Also 360 controller is more form fitting, PS3 controller needs to be held a different way, usually people who move from 360 -> PS3 seem to have an issue with the PS3 controller. If you go the other way, you kind of...don't care.
#34
it took me a while to get used to the ps3 controller after years of xbox playing. The design flaw on those triggers is literally shocking, but £2 to add a simple after market solution gets my vote anyday.
I love the sensitivity of the ps3 analogue sticks too, they really are so much better than the 360 controllers. All this debating and arguing is making me think about getting my 360 back out and having a blast on it lol.

These are a fantastic addition! Makes it much more responsive in my opinion as it makes the controller feel like it is in more of a natural position. VERY good price!!!

Is that a serious comment ?

If those controller addons work for people and you have no other real choice(without paying out around £70 to get the xcm+ (must be + or no rumble), and a "Wired" 360 controller) then this must be a good deal..
