no quidco for hardware with shopto

good deal ... heat added although my deal posted last week was cheaper with 6% quidco cashback (£13.50) which makes it £245.50! (after checking it appears that they are now out of stock!)
#4
wow .. still alot of money for just the hardware. Though not disputing that it's probably one of the cheapest prices.
#5
Will this play my sons old PS2 games????

Will this play my sons old PS2 games????

no, only the 60gb model plays ps2 games.
#7
good price though if your after a ps3 id wait for the new year sales
#8
Eh? It comes with a Dualshock 3 anyway.

COLD, if you did the Amazon deal and got a Blu Ray remote free, it works out that you get the PS3 for under £200. So this is expensive.
#9
will there be january sales for things like xbox's and PS3's?

i thought that they only reduce price when sony or microsoft does?
#10
There's no way there'll be an official price drop on the PS3, they can't afford to do it, no matter how few they sell. They're losing money on every one they sell!

there is now way of getting a ps3 for under 200 quid. If this was the case, you need to put a link up of the past deal mate. I can't remember it!

I seem to recall Currys selling them for £199 as a special new store opening event. (Gumshield not included).

I think this thread needs livening up a bit. so here goes...
My PS3 is better than an Xbox360!
:-D sorry, had to be done.

Better at having less choice, demonstrably worse versions of multi format software and costing more, indeed you're correct!

:-D Sorry, couldn't resist!

You might as well get the argos deal that comes with three games. You could sell them if you didn't want them and it would work out cheaper. And can the fanboys in this topic just keep quiet for a change. Usually when you bitch about a different console your unhappy with something about your own.
#17
got mine for £199.99 at that currys deal brand new, no damaged box either, and no gumshield needed, was very civilised!

Cant find the deal I got the other day which also included a blue ray remote but the grand total came to £405 then dropped to £300 at checkout so putting the console under the £200 quid mark, one thing though it took about ten tries to get this to work and to find the free blue ray remote.

just looked at my invoice console coming up at £189.41

Item(s) Subtotal: £355.68
Postage & Packing: £0.00
-----
Total Before VAT: £355.68
VAT: £50.67
-----
Total: £406.35
Promotion Applied: -£105.56
-----
Grand Total: £300.79

But looks like they are no longer doing the remote with the package

Not really.

Also the amazon deal looks good, your getting 2 games and 2 blu ray movies and the ps3 for £300. Argos deal is £290 which comes with 3 games, but no movies or hdmi cable. I would say the games are more valuable than the films, considering they are recent releases. Argos deal probably edges the amazon one in value, since theres no blu ray remote with the amazon deal anymore. Plus you get a £10 argos voucher too. Suppose it depends on what you wan't really.

This is not under £200 as you've said in the first part of post, its £300.

Oh ffs...

The console is £285 or something with LBP, so LBP is £25, that brings it down to £260. Then you add another free game which is worth £25 which brings it down again to £235, then you add your GAME4TEN which means your getting a £25 game for £10 so you save £15 which brings the console to £220. Throw in the HDMI which is £5 that's £215 and if you choose to get a BluRay with it you minus £7 because you save £7.

That's £208 for the console only, and as I requested a BluRay remote and got it and it's worth £18 that brought the PS3 down to £190.

Is it really that hard to work out? This means that without the BluRay remote you get the console for £208, and they never had it with the LBP bundle, but it was confusing, and they delayed orders by well over a week, so they people who requested it to receive it.

So this is ripping you off by £50!!!

So if you want to lose £50, buy it. :)

That has to be one of the funniest posts i've read on here!! Hahaha.. Sony... Go bust!!!! Hahaha
#24
shopto are doing what retailers call unbundling. manufacturers offer them a bundle. in this case it is a ps3 with motorstorm, lbp and r2 for a discount. shopto then separates the items and sells them individually for what it thinks will generate greater profits.

technically, sony doesn't like this but it can't really say no because shopto are buying such a large number of bundles of sony.

many retailers are doing the same with the xbox 360 wireless controller plus lego indiana jones and kung fu panda bundle. they are stripping the bundles because they believe they can get more money selling the items separately.

don't think either sony or ms are 100% pleased with it but at least it generates decent revenue in both instances but at least it is all good for the consumer who only wants to buy one item.
#25
Damn that's expensive. I'm glad my PS3 was a gift :)

This makes my 60GB Xbox 360, 2 wirelesss controllers, Dead Space, Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda all for £169.99 deal seem even better!
#26
Oh, and if you buy this PS3 make sure you buy a HDMI cable if you have an HDMI compatible TV. Sony don't include any High-Def cables in the box :(

That deal is no longer available though is it? Its only two games now, and a blu ray film. So I agree this deal isn't great but theres better ones out there than the current amazon deal now.

It's 3 games still, LBP with the console, a free game and a GAME4TEN. :)

EDIT: Oh wait didn't see that you could choose the LBP ps3 bundle as part of the deal. So works out ok, means you get a blu ray and hdmi cable for £13 if you compare it with the argos one. Don't know if its really worth that much, hmmm decisions decisions. Wonder if they'll still offer the blu ray remote if I phoned up.

It won't happen as you haven't even placed an order (they delayed my order by weeks) and it's very clear now what you can and can't choose, the blu ray remote doesn't even come with the movie packs now...

Oh well will probably go for the other deal. Prince of persia was part of the amazon deal which I would have preferred, but its out of stock and I would need it by christmas.

Hmm, I reckon it will deffo be back in stock before Xmas, I guess your best bet would be to put First Class on it, but then you waste a fiver. MS2 was out of stock for 6 days, but now they have hundreds of copies.

no, only the 60gb model plays ps2 games.

Bum!!!

Can you still get a 60 gig one then??

Will hold off for a little longer then. Think the argos voucher deal has expired, which makes it slightly more expensive but its still good. Would prefer prince of persia over motorstorm, but would still be getting LBP and resistance 2.

Thats incorrect information. The 20/60GB models are the only consoles that are fully backward compatible, However, the 80GB has limited backwards compatibility for some PS2 and PS1 titles.
