Released on 1st October.

Amazon have cheekily increased the price of the console when bought with the move pack separately from £269.99 to £284.99. The release date when bought separately is 17/9 so if you don't want to wait until 1/10 then buy it from Zavvi/The Hut/Shopto/Play.

Hot from me, cancelling play order.....

Would prefer amazon if something went wrong, MUCH better service than any other etailer

Shame you don't get cashback, but should something go wrong your far more safe in the hands of Amazon, in comparison to Play.
banned#3
Isn't it funny how play had the RRP on this at £334.99 yet amazon have it at £284.99

Hmmm

WOAH hold on... also different release dates???

Are you sure it's the same package?

I'd ignore it personally. Amazon always send stuff out early.

Not compatible from what I've read :) They will have fw v3.43 for Move which is set to be released next week on PSN. (Could also explain the delay to 1st Oct to get the 3.42 changes in).

The very first day of release of the PS3 in Europe (23 March 2007) warranted a System Software upgrade from the shipped firmware release 1.50 to 1.60.

A couple of other firmware releases are due within the next month too; but you may well be correct that Sony have requested the delay to ensure the most recent revision (3.42) is present on the units.

not going to tell people to pirate or not pirate but they should be aware of the consequences:

wouldn't recommend people jailbreaking their ps3 until there is absolutely certainty that they will be able to play newer games that will require the already release later firmware..

compare this with the microsoft drive hack does not stop later games from being playable - but right now no one knows whether jailbroken ps3 can play newer games (the modscene has only just garnered momentum) + jailbroken ps3 are currently detectable..

i.e. i wouldn't recommend rushing to jailbreak your ps3 until you are sure they are 100% stealth enabled else you will be left with an expensive console + expensive unusable move accesory that can only play a handful of cheap old games (with no psn access).unless jailbreak improves from it's current form i wouldn't don't even consider installing it - right now it is a false economy. nb: i am not recommending you to not jailbreak but i am recommending you not to rush out and jailbreak it YET.

Nah do it for free...it's been ported to basically every decent smart phone you can buy, the psp, calculators...give it another couple of weeks and you'll be able to use your toaster too.

what is that kit?i've never had a ps3 but what games are being released with this move?

So you can pirate games...copy them to the hard drive or an external one.
#20
The new consoles will most likely include the 3.42 patch so if you are planning to JB.. get one now and stick 3.41 on it. And as anh_duong said, I wouldn't recommend jail breaking (yet) as you'll be stuck with a crippled PS3 with an undetermined future. Unless coders find a way to improve/update the functionality of the device, its not really worth the hassle.

Although not stated word for word explicitly, this blog entry (from two days ago) suggests that the 320GB model will be available in the UK from 17 September 2010:

EyePet Move Edition: A taste of what it’s like to interact with your EyePet using the Move controller in EyePet Move Edition. (Existing EyePet owners will be able to download a free software update on 15 September).

Release date issue has been cleared up by someone on the official Sony EU forums:

Just to let your all know the facts, the 320gig version of PS3 with free move has gone back to roughly 1st October, this applies to Game, Gamestation, & Amazon UK.

Mine was on order wih Game, supposed to out 17th September, but email I got, like so many others, says just October, so I've been on the phone to everyone, and it seems Game don't deal directly with Sony UK, hence the delay in delivery, Sony UK however confirm the release date is still the 17th to all UK dealers who buy directly from them, Sony UK, this still ties in with the official release date of move alone.
So, I've switched my order to Shop.to.net who confirmed they will honour the release date of 17th September to all pre-orders.

My local HMV said they will sell this from the 17th Sept.

The free move starter pack and 320GB PS3 bundle is now 269.91 but as mentioned above start date is October on that one.
I tried placing the console and Move starter pack in the basket separately as advised in the original post above. It does give move starter pack for free when you go to checkout, but the price is £284.99. So you cannot get both for the price stated here (£269.99). It's a bit cheaper to wait 2 extra weeks and get the bundled version.

Amazon have cheekily upped the price by £15 on the 17 September console so I've updated the post, thanks!

still says 269.99

Amazon are no longer advertising delivery for 17th September 2010 when you select First Class postage.
