The DualShock 3 wireless controller for the PlayStation 3 system provides the most intuitive game play experience with pressure sensitive buttons and the inclusion of the highly sensitive Sixaxis motion sensing technology. Each hit, crash and explosion is more realistic when the user feels the rumble right in the palm of their hand. It can even detect natural movements for real-time and high precision interactive play, acting as a natural extension of the user's body. The DualShock 3 wireless controller utilises Bluetooth technology for wireless gameplay and the controller's USB cable to seamlessly and automatically charge the controller through the hardware.
Pressure sensitive buttons that rumble with each action making every impact feel like you're right in the game
Sixaxis highly sensitive motion technology senses your every move
Features Bluetooth technology for wireless game play - the PlayStation 3 system can support up to seven wireless controllers at one time
Can be charged through the PlayStation 3 system using the controller's USB cable

That white one is coooooool!

Shame they are only different colours and not better built, the spring inside for the L2 and R2 triggers is a joke, totally overpriced and underengineered the PS3 controllers are.

Expensive, maybe. But why "under engineered"?

Have you taken one apart? Poor build, very poor, even assembled the plastic creaks with the slightest twist, they just are not robust enough for controllers in my opinion and vastly overpriced. Ergonomically (apart from the change with the L2 & R2 triggers) they have always had it right, but build quality and price is poor compared to the competition (Even the Dreamcast controller was more robust!)

I am liking the look of the new PS3 Slim 320GB in White, really shows off the PS3 logo better (and thank god Sony saw the error of the ways and got rid of the awful Spiderman font logo..what were they thinking!...keep it in line with the PS2 and PSP)

Plastic like every other controller, just a more robust plastic would suffice, none of my other controllers on any of my other consoles (Xbox1, 360, Dreamcast, Gamecube, Wii) creaks like a Sony Dualshock, and as I said, take one apart, the springs inside the Dualshock 3 particularly are a joke, really bad.

*touchwood* I've dropped/smashed/hit my controller on many different objects many times and it seems to be surviving still :) at first I thought it wouldn't be as robust has the PS2 ones but after a few annoying sessions on mw2 I was glad it was..!

i agree i use my old sixaxis as the dualshock L2 trigger is useless now it seems to have a mind of its own some days its bad the others its unusable have 4-5 360 controllers only thing i can complain about its the rubber on the thumbsticks have wore down some are 3 years old my dual shock was bought in jan this year

Should you ever be in the misfortune like a number of people on PS forums complain with their springs breaking, replacements are widely available from Ebay..just be careful with the controller opening and closing it and getting all the components back in one piece is an art in itself!

When i first got my ps3, i accidently dropped my pad maybe twice and the start button stopped working, i had to open it up set afew things in it's rightful place then it started working perfect, since then i've dropped the controller over 20 times lol and it works perfect even better than when i first got it. the pads are poorly constructed IMO.

Then just don't drop it then.
I don't know how it can go wrong just simply holding it in your hands and playing a game.

I have only had my PS3 for 4 months, and although my controller works fine, I have found that it already has scratches over it (not been dropped), the barcode sticker on the back has faded (why they dont etch on like the PS2 dualshocks I don't know).

The most expensive controller RRP on the market, and in my opinion the weakest constructed.

I don't know how any controller can particularly go wrong without dropping them, apart from gradual wear and tear which they all get subjected to from having surpise...surprise moveable parts.

It was a comment, like others have commented that in my opinion (and others on here) the PS3 controller is not that greatly constructed, and is unjustifiably overpriced compared to the competition....get over it.

Drops off my desk alot for some reason or other, but it is poorly constructed which i foundout when i opened it up and fixed, like i said works better than ever now so i'm happy, and it is way over price, cicobuff is right about the L2 and R2 trigger buttons, they need to use better springs, unless u tweek ur pad like i have them two buttons respond slow in games like street fighter or other button mashing games.

Never had a problem with any of my dual-shock controllers - then again, I'm not ham-fisted :p

EDIT: Anyway, back to the deal .. this is overpriced. I bought a normal DS controller from Sony Style for about £18 I think a few months ago with the deal on here. Almost double the price just for a tacky colour is madness.

I have every console, and the original sony controllers are starting to play up, and the ps3 is the newest purchase. The xbox and wii controllers are fine. My "X" button on the sony wont completely return upwards and sometimes sticks - gets very annoying during some games.

viking direct selling a black dualshock with discount code for around 25 pounds..

ordered the red one thanks op

I have two of the blue ones. Simply games have been selling them for around £35 for months.
The blue isn't as rich as the pictures suggest.
My brother was going to buy the red one when he was in NY, but said that they are also very pale, so opted for the blue.

I've had the blue and red ones for ages, bought them for £35 last year from CD Wow, so this is hardly a deal as hot as this for £1 cheaper...
#29
Absolutely immense. I don't know why people have come on saying that the PS3 controllers are inferior quality to competitors. So what? We PS3 owners have to use the PS3 controllers so get over it.
Also the SONY STYLE deal was a long time ago and currently cheapest place for a normal black dual shock is Amazon at £30.

Don't forget 4% Quidco on Shopto which would make these controllers about £32.

I have preordered the RED one. Thanks OP...H&R added.

Thanks.

Not really the normal one is the same price and they are usually around £30-£35 anyway.

Wow magic scratches? C'mon dude, scratches have to come from somewhere, they don't appear just from holding it.
What happened? Did you lose at COD and throw your controller at the wall?

I've got a Sixaxis that's 3 years old (Even lighter than the DS3) and it's still perfect, apart from one stick was a bit sticky sometimes, but that sort of thing is expected from a 3 year old controller.
The reason why it's more expensive than other controllers is because it has better technology inside it, such as the Sixaxis motion sensors.

That white one is coooooool!
Having had a white Japanese one for about 2 years I have to say it's really really hard to keep clean. It never looks particularly nice because grime gets in the seams and indents and it shows up most of all on white. It's quite hard to clean uness you're permanently using a needle and a cuetip for upkeep. Yeah it happens even if you have very clean hands :P
I'd get a red one but god still £34? The jap import one was £27 all that time ago.

I have been gaming since the early 80's and the ps3 pad is one of the weakest pads ever.
I left mine beside the radiator by mistake and the pipe melted a hole in the back of the controller and then I dropped it and the whole back cracked. I was able to fix it with lots of super glue.
Gone are the days when you could throw a controller at the wall in frustration it seems.

how did you manage to throw older controllers at the wall?? most of them were wired... i had visions of your console flying off with the controller.. lol

Second that. It has to be used, so just use it.

Also had to mention, last time I looked, you couldn't get Quidco on either pre-orders, or hardware from Shopto. Unless thats changed. I should look really. Too lazy at the mo.

they should bring back grey controllers.

Have all these already apart from the Red one...I'll go for that :) Ordered
