If Sony can milk the consumer using proprietry gear like memory cards, then the consumer can milk Sony. As my games will be free, I won't mind paying a few bobs for a memory card.PS is it cracked yet?

And it's because of idiots like you we have to have these expensive memory cards in the first place. Why are people so intent on destroying the success of a console so they can play a bloody emulated NES game from 20 years ago? If you love the NES games so much, go and buy one or get a wii. Better still, just stick with your PC that will let you run pretty much any emulation tool and pirated game you want!!!

instore bit is good, however 8GB card cheapest you can get is £28 so this now becomes £225, versus Amazons £209...

So it has to be cold as it is bad value

Why on earth would anyone already have the card? They aren't in shops yet and their sole purpose is for use in the Vita - so if they didn't have a Vita, they wouldn't have the card...

As others have said, the Amazon deal works out cheaper.

Really horrible to see people called names on here, even if it is a 'pratt'.. this place is supposed to be a community.

It's not the best deal either.

Lol, you related by any chance? anyway ignoring your daft responce, nobody has the card yet as it is not out yet, so why pay £196 + £28, when you can pay £209 to get exactly the same thing, only if you like spending more money does this deal make sense

This looks like a good price at first glance, but when you consider that 90% of launch titles require a memory card it isn't so great. Cheapest place to get a 4gb card seems to be Amazon who are selling it for £14.99. That immediately brings the price upto £212. Amazon are throwing in a bigger 8gb card with the Vita for just £210.

Coupled with the fact that you'll also have to get at least one game to play and this price is really quite rubbish. Sorry, I don't like bagging on deals, but there is far better available at places like Amazon and Play. This "deal" is strictly for clueless parents who will be in for a nasty surprise once they get home and realise that they need to spend another £15-20 to even boot up some of the games they've bought.

    Absolutely disgusting attitude.
Its because of cheapskates like you that were in this situation.

Seriously dont get people on this forum, especially those long term members who should know better.

If you find a price, cheaper than elsewhere, its a good deal surely?

If people want to pipe up and say " well you dont get a memory card" they need to get a grip! You dont get 10 games, downloadable content, a carry case, or a screen protector either, but you'll probably buy them over the lifespan of the device, so therefore if this deal is cold, every deal out there is cold!

Grow up, thank people for posting the cheapest price and stop fekkin whingeing!
  13. trikidy's avatar
I dont think it can be used without a memory card, can it?
    So not a good deal
  14. Moody_Cloud's avatar

By your reasoning, EVERY device should be hackable. There's a reason why every single company on the planet locks out devices. It's to protect their own product. Things like NES emulators, even if legal would be owned by Nintendo. Do you think they'd want to see their games on a rival console?

I'm sorry, I don't buy your "I only hack my console to unlock it's full potential" crap. No-one believes you when you say you only want to play games via an emulator, which isn't legal anyway. Anyone who has the chance to get access to any game they can for free will do it. You're no different, no matter what you say on these forums.

    Weenie Beenie

No it's not. If Sony left the console wide open for us to do with it as … No it's not. If Sony left the console wide open for us to do with it as we please with the exception of protection on the retail games themselves there would be much less hacking. With the original PSP most of the hacking was to allow homebrew, not piracy.People will try to pirate games on every games console, they always have and they always will. That doesn't mean you have to tar those of us who just want to use the console to it's full potential with the same brush.

Awful deal as has already been stated. Giving heat purely for being someones first post is ridiculous also. It is a bad deal so should be voted cold as such.

I just dont understand the heat on this, I can only presume people think they can walk into Asda and walk out and play their Vita.....

I guess this is why Game and Gamestation keep going
  17. AK.Gunners's avatar
If someone wants just the Vita and no memory card (maybe a gift for someone, who cares what reason), then I think this is the best standalone price and available in a well known retailer so personally think it should be voted hot.

So many manufacturers have propriety peripherals its not just Sony. Nintendo, Apple, Microsoft all do it, so I take it you don't buy any of their gear either

What is wrong with wanting to get the most out of the hardware we pay for? Yes many people use it to pirate games and supposedly 'harm' retail sales but plenty of people (including myself) hacked the original one so that we could unlock it's full potential and do what it was capable of rather than what Sony dictates we could do with it.

You can't play any games on the console without the memory card - that is NOT a matter of opinion.

So we can all agree its hot as its the cheapest instore for a stand alone console

but in the long run you will end up spending more money as you have to buy everything else.
  26. stingersplash's avatar
this is so cold, why is it hot?

no preorder pack, and not much cheaper than the bundle deals that include memory card and games.

if i was buying the console on its own, it would have to be around £180 to be this hot.
  27. deleted176269's avatar
    lol at people comparing a £400-£600 iPad 2 to a ~£200 Vita.

I have an ipad 2 and an iphone 4s and may buy the ipad 3, however, the ipad is not a GAMES CONSOLE!
I have tried very hard to play any form of serious games on the ipad and it just does not work. The screen is too large, the touch screen controls for most series games will not and do not work.

Please stop comparing the ipad to a Vita. The ipad is not the bees knees of everything.

You didn't hack anything. You followed a simplified n00b tutorial that takes you 5 minutes, whilst us devs spend endless hours exploiting the hardware. So don't take responsibility...

Do you think I care what you think or if you believe me? Every device is … Do you think I care what you think or if you believe me? Every device is hackable eventually but they don't have to be hacked if they didn't lock them down to begin with. I mean you say emulators are technically illegal if you don't have the original games and back them up yourself and you're right, does that mean Microsoft should start locking down their OS so emulators can't be run? Should they also make any software not signed off by them not work on their OS? No, they shouldn't.

..and look what happened when Sony allowed other OS on the PS3. The ultimate goal by that US hacker Geohot was to USE that tool to show how to circumvent software protection...aka piracy. I bid you a good day my friend.

Its not a bad deal - its am instore versus Online ordering. something the size of the Vita means should I order from Amazon, I enevitably have to take a trip to the local depot to collect, rather than pick up while doing my shopping.

and as for the ealier comment about wanting to crack it to play free games.........If I ran this site I had your ip adddress reported to the appropriate authorites, I have friends in the gaming business who have lost employment in the past primarily due to lower than expected sales due to heavily pirated / leaked software.

I asked in gamestation a while ago about them price matching tesco with the £209.99 price on the wifi version of the vita and they said they couldnt

they are still selling it for £219.99 which is mental as for 5 quid more from amazon you get a 30 quid game and a 8gb card.....

    mind boggling

they must make so much profit on the consoles

    lmao @ doomed.

I really don't understand why people are so anti vita keep posting other than trolling.

Have to agree that whilst this offer is good if you just want a vita, you need factor in a game and a card which suddenly makes this offer not very good at all.

    They aren't free in Japan......

Actually you are correct, there has been so much anger in the fact that the 'UMD Passport' sytem isn't available in the US or UK I assumed that it was free (or almost free) but some games are actually £10 to transfer.
But it still remains that I will have to buy my games again if I want to play them on a Vita, so for now I will stick to my psp, which I admit hasn't been used in over a year! lol
Although £165 sounds more reasonable, once I know what exciting new games are coming soon (if any).

If you want a 8GB card, then no it's not a good deal. However, if you want a 16/32GB card, why would you spend an extra £12 at Amazon when that money could go towards the card!
