In-store only by the looks of it, reduced from £229.99. Not a bad deal if you aren't interested in any of the usual bundled games and not worried about hard drive space (which can always be easily upgraded later anyway).

I only want GT5 at the moment and can easily pick that up for less than (£269.99 minus £199.99) = £70 :)

There were about 6 left at the Hove branch FYI.

I'm gutted I didn't get the 160 gig when it was £199 at Sainsburys. The 120 gig must be discontinued now.

160gb console is still available for 199 at playstation rewards site

So you're calling the bloke a liar then?

As above, why on earth go for the older, smaller HDD model when the newer is still available on the rewards site.
#9
They also have some good deals on the 250gb for £249.99 including 2 games and 2 movies

I couldn't even get on to the Rewards site, looks like it is invite only so pretty useless to me today.
#15
Forgive me but could someone link to the deal on the 160GB mentioned above.
#16

Here you go!

The access key is PLAY.STATION3 (you need to type instead of just copy and paste, it works for me moments ago.)
Console will be delivered by DPD with next day delivery service.

you can jailbreak any now ... so what are you on about?

just downgrade the firmware
#19
Thanks taka hwang!

Are we expecting any decent price reductions in the next month or is £200 for the 160GB as good as it's going to get? Bearing in mind I'll probably take the drive straight out and fit a 640GB.

Yeah, you would have to be unbelievably unlucky to get one with either 3.55 on it or one of the rumoured really new models that can't be downgraded!

it's the 120gb model (which is older) so I don't think either scenario would come into play :)

just out of curiosity apart from playing copied games, which isn't my thing, what's the benefits of jail breaking a ps3?

Because you can.

I'll be skint tomorow at this rate.

As for the whole JB business, now PS3's play avi out of the box it seems to me that using dodgy games from that fella who goes in the boozer on a Thursday tea time is all it does. I'd be glad to be corrected though.
#26
Ahh yes, read it as 160GB, so this is definitely very old stock and will probably have 3.40 firmware on it, maybe lower.

Homebrew is a large part of JB'ing a PS3, as well as obviously playing games you've not purchased, there's work going on to make the PS3 a real all-in-one media solution.

Well now it seems that it won't matter what firmware the PS3's are on, the PS3's security has just been blown wide open!

Not as good a deal as the one i scooped Thursday evening! £168.99 for PS3 Slim 250GB! Now that was a great deal! 8)
#31
These offers are like bloomin' buses... Not sure what to go for. The 200 160gb. The 160gb + bits from Amazon. The other 2 I've got scribbled on a bit of missing paper.

Slightly wayward, but has anyone had experience of a shop/site called r4kings.com?

Thankee!
#32
Playstation Rewards are now selling for £205 for hte 160Gb model. Who are what are Playstation Rewards as they dont seem to obviously be affliated with Sony?

Where did you get yours from? Is the deal still on?
#34
I'm looking for a PS3, but it has to be around the the £170-£180 price mark. Can anyone tell me of any good current offers please?

Also larger hard drive size would be better, plus it should be able to play home-brew games etc - which is legal as far as I know - if not, then tell me lol. X)

So... if anyone knows of any good cheap PS3 slim deals (of the consoles WHICH CAN BE MODDED), where can I find them...Are there no more £160 deals left or coming up ? :(
