The problem with the Kindle is that it doesn't support books from most lending libraries as they use DRM on epub format to restrict the loan length. I just really wish Barnes and Noble would release the Nook in the UK or partner with someone like Waterstones over here :(.

Unlikely to be Waterstones as they seem to be closely tied with Sony...WHSmiths are tied between iRiver and Sony too.

I've got the silver one and it's a lovely bit of kit. I paid £150 for it a while back but it's worth every penny. Nice brushed aluminium, whereas the new kindles are very plasticky. A guy at work has one, and while the Kindle is still nice, I prefer the look and feel of my Sony.

Think I'd spend the money on a cheap Android Tablet and download Kindle app....

But if you plan on reading for a while that will strain your eyes, these use e-ink which resembles ink on a book and it's not backlit either....

This is the old model and not anywhere near the quality of the 350 and 650 models.

Very cold.

This was my first Ebook Reader and i got it about 4-5months ago from a guy off another forum. Its still within warranty but the damn thing just pppfffft. No hard reset, or soft reset would make it work. I couldnt find the reciept (and having said that Sony still hasnt replied to my email i sent to them at the beginning of Dec to register the fault)-would take 2weeks to send off, probably cost an arm and leg to fix....

Anyway..long story short....bought the latest Kindle-BRILLIANT. ok so it only does Mobi and PDF but theres a program called Calibre that can convert books as easy as pie.

Not voted as really its a case of whats good for one isnt for another and so on...but my personal -get the kindle ;)

Calibre doesn't remove DRM from Epub files.
