You're wrong.

The vita DOES play online over 3G. I've played FIFA, NFS Most Wanted and just tried Virtua Tennis World Tour which worked fine.

It's simple, if you're not going online then turn 3G off, made even easier with the latest firmware update which allows quick access to it from a long hold on the PS Button, if you're going to use 3G then it's obvious the battery will reduce quicker just like having the brightness higher or background music playing etc.

Pretty sure you need to be on the LAN network with the PS4 to remote play.

Ahh I see, thanks for sharing that.
I've heard that multiplayer is doable with the 3G so that's always handy if you find a good sim deal. Better to have it than not at that price

Thats a shame you can't do more with the 3G as it is normally priced significantly higher than the standard WiFi only version.

I play FIFA over 3G all the time. 3G isn't just for social aspects.
Also played Need for Speed: Most Wanted over 3G with no issues either.

How does the 3G work on these. Do you have to buy a network sim?

You'll also need a decent memory card too...

12 months warranty is the statutory minimum on electronics, so thanks eBay outlet for providing the absolute minimum. Plus you get 12 months on retail units too, so...

bought a couple of refurbished things from argos ebay before and they've both been very poor quality. You take the gamble I guess but personally, I wont be taking it again.

I know obviously you can return them if you want but it's too much extra hassle and once i've got the thing i cba to return it

Sorry mate I don't use the Vita as a tablet so can't comment on that. There is not many apps like the iPhone app store or Android Play store though so if that's what you're after look for something else

There is no statutory minimum warranty on used or refurb items so actually having it included is a nice bonus

It's mad that the Wifi version is currently more expensive...

Seeing as Sony said they'll be supporting the Vita for a long time to come (and especially so since it'll be so closely linked to the PS4), I'd strongly advise against getting the 3G version, as they will no doubt be releasing a 4G version in the near-ish future (google the slip made by a US network exec about the Vita supporting LTE).
This article gives some more reasons to avoid the 3G model.

This is a refurb "deal" and the 3G version of Vita is no longer being manufactured, that's the only reason the wifi version costs more.

Old article yeah, but the points are still relevant. If you get a 3G Vita you have to pay for a data plan just for limited functionality. Like you say, there will no doubt be newer model(s) released (hopefully with a HDMI out).

i just got this, its cheaper than the wi-fi only and i'm not gna use the 3g so i'll just turn it off. nice deal if it comes in good condition

That would be a massive balls :). Though come to think of it the Vita has stubbornly held its price pretty well on ebay (last time I checked anyway) so if a new model is released and you're quick to sell you wouldn't lose too much.

Brilliant price although 3G isnt for me on a gaming console too much cost. PLus the signal sucks where I live.

The Vita is due a price cut soon. May want to lay off it a little bit and get a new one instead for the same price.

Going to wait until Football Manager Classic is released until I decide if I want one. Very interested by this game!

Yep, or even put it in aeroplane mode to turn all network features off.

Just a heads up for anyone considering - these consoles aren't refurbished, they are all customer returns. I checked several 'refurbished' ps3's from here and they were all scratched to bits and not looked after at all. Very poor quality

Surely they can't put 'Manufacturer refurbished' if they haven't been refurbished by the manufacturer though? Otherwise wouldn't they be restricted to 'Seller refurbished' at best?

Think i read the 3G has GPS whereas the Wi-fi version doesnt - not a feature important to me but maybe for others
