Pretty good deal I guess! Don't worry 'bout the 40Gig HDD just whack in a bigger one quite simply.
#2
Also doesn't play ps2 games. but still hot for this model.
#3
It's comforting to see that people are still paying the same as I did one year later.
#4
I feel the same way about my Wii :) (but extend that feeling to two years)!
#5
i heard they are going to allow ps2 games to be played with a new firmware update? Dunno how the memory card will work unless they have some kind of ps2 MC to USB adaptor..
#6
I've been hearing that for months yet it hasn't materialised, either in a firmware update or bundled with a new PS3 sku - it's all talk.

The PS3s (well the ones that can play PS2 games) emulate a PS2 memory card so you don't need to physically attach anything though you do need an adapter if you want to transfer old saves.

Regardless it doesn't apply to this deal.

How easy is it to put a new bigger HD into the PS3?

Seems to be a bit of a pointless comment bearing in mind you can't buy a NEW PS3 console that DOES play PS2 games at all now.

I am in the market for a PS3 and this one is tempting but I want to see if there are some really good 80GB bundles coming out soon for the christmas rush. I still can't decide!

New 160Gb PS3 due in November see Gizmodo. Still hovering here - card quivering in eWallet, I'm looking for a bundle with a decent screen at a price that convinces me: Blu-Ray for me, PS3 for the kids (really - yes - not me - honest....). :whistling:

Sony Centres offered me the KDL40W4000 / BDPS350 deal (£849) previouslyposted by porchy, swapping the BluRay player for a 40Gb PS3 for £949 - hanging back still.

With the crunch, the new Sony Z series hdtvlounge (120Hz, WiFi, and "cluster" OLED screens) - rumoured to start at aroung £1,300 and going up to over £4K and the new PS3 the price pressure will only grow :santa:.

Thanks Sigma - just ordered this for my mate who was threatening to hijack our plans to play PES 2009 online together by buying a 360! Cheers once again and rep will be added again once it lets me...

I agree. I picked up a PSOne for £5 from a charity shop last week. That's a bargain considering they were over £200 when they came out in December 1994!

:p

Good price yes but still too expensive for what it is and what it actually has
#23
i thought Sony had dropped the price of blu ray drives due to them being able to make them cheaper, but PS3 has not dropped in price and is over priced if you ask me by quite abit, a xbox 360 is better in my opinion andis only around £100 most places if you look around brand new and has more better games to choose from as well, i not seen 10 games worth buying for the PS3 and how many years has it been out now?

So you'd recommend getting an Xbox 360 and a separate standalone blu-ray player would you which would take up more space and be more expensive then a PS3?

Yeh im suprised they havent dropped the price already

The thing is even though £260 is alright you have to take into accoutn the price of blu rays atm - as thats the only reason anyone buys a ps3 for blu ray and most films are like £14 odd on blu ray

Pretty much the same as any 'site/store' of this type i.e stack em high ship em quick. I bought a Ps3 off them last year and then enquired about a return under the distance selling regs - they replied in broken English that the DSR doesn't apply if you've just changed your mind :-D - take from that what you will lol.

Sony dont need to drop the price though - i would seriously wonder about why something is dropping in price every five minutes...

and blu-ray is yet another reason to purchase a PS3 not the only reason although if you have a HDTV then you'll want to watch HD films. (i mean proper HD - not over compressed lacking in quality downloaded ones) .
