PS3 Slim: Mercedes
PS3 Superslim: Nissan Micra
This one is quieter, cooler and cheaper to run.
Power consumption is the same as previous model and is actually slightly louder due to disc being nearer to the top. Heat is also likely to be more due to smaller size, this is imo whereas the other two points have been confirmed.

It's the newest model so should be fine. Bargain at this price
Slim Version is going to drop in value now because of this newer console. However in a few months time the newer one will be cheaper than the Slim because it is 'the cheaper alternative' as branded by IGN in their youtube video upon unboxing which revealed cheap plastic.
This deal sucks by the way, wheres the free games and goodies? Shopto are going after customers that only see the words "Newer" and "I want it now mum." Its true value should be £100 as it is cheaper to make than the slim that will drop from £160 to £130.

Not a huge improvement over the slim to be honest. I think the added storage capacity is also very unnecessary. I would just go with the cheapest slim model you could find, old or new.
That's more like. This is the price this console should cost EVERYWHERE. The 12GB version at £180 is retarded too, that should be £150 max although £130 would be more appropriate. This is the first time Sony haven't passed the savings on to the consumer after revising their hardware so it's obvious they're trying to make a decent profit on each unit sold.
It's probably the first time in the PS3's lifespan where Sony will actually be selling their console at a decent profit so you can't blame them too much, but considering how old it is now and new hardware on the brink of being confirmed, these should still be cheaper. I find it baffling how we haven't reached the magic £100 price point for a current gen console yet. The PS2 hit that price around 5 years after launch, yet the 360 has been out for 7 years and the PS3 nearly 6 years yet still the prices are nowhere near £100. Even a brand new fricking Wii still costs £110+ most places! Madness!
/rant over, heat added.
Also because the PS3 drive is so slow (~ 1/2 the speed of the Xbox 360 DVD drive) most PS3 games force you to cache the game to hard disk on the first time you use them (whilst you wait for up to ten minutes), so you need as much disk space as possible on a PS3....
Totally agree. I think my PS3 is the best thing but even I struggle to see the benefits of this model, except for Sony.
That sliding disc tray is a recipe for disaster either through breakages as it seems very flimsy to me or dust (accidently left open?...who knows?).
sadly this is a budget model with inferior build quality comparing to slim model,it looks too plasticy and cheap comparing to slim.
I'd say the slim model is far superior in terms of build quality and design.
I know some are going disagree, but this is what all reviews mention and can be seen by looking at pics/videos.
