This may go cold but I cant see this cheaper elsewhere, I know there may be a pricedrop coming soon but for now this is a good deal.

Richer Sounds sell this for £300 and with the price beat challenge you can get this for £255 as Grainger games do it for £265(with a free game but older ones) and for an extra £25.50 you can get a 5 year guarantee with it, which if you dont claim on, you get that £25.50 back.

No games included but for the value of the warranty, it is well worth it.

Instore Only!

Also depending on Zavvi's prices you may get it even cheaper but mine has closed down so I dont know the current price.

Just a point about Grainger Games since they are mentioned here. It may influence you buying from them over the counter.....they operate a no refund policy unless an item is proven to be faulted......no exceptions.

Of course as most HUKD members will know I am sure, legally speaking no retailer is obliged to give refunds for over the counter purchases for any other reason than faulty goods, you rely on the goodwill of the retailer, sadly a goodwill refund does not form part of Grainger Games policy. The best you could hope for is a credit note.

Just thought it was worth a mention.

Still way over priced, price will drop soon when its around £149 mark (possibly xmas time) thats a good time to buy one...

Why would an Xbox owner buy one even at £149.
Oh and why even comment on a thread that you aren't interested in.

We all know what you think after your umpteen comment on the price and your comments are getting very boring.

£149 seems way to optimistic m8, Especially with the weakness of the £. I would expect £249 with 3 games by summer, But i can't see £149 for console only.

You are dreaming m8 with the value of the yen collapsing they are actually talking about price increases, so £149 is way optimistic
#12
Yip, Yen collapsing, Sony issuing profits warnings for first time and them losing on every console i cross my fingers for the £250 drop in April when I'm getting one but that's maybe being hopefull now...

PS - Yes Zavvi are still £250 for the console alone which is the best deal going just now probably

if you wait till Christmas you'll see Santa - this is a good price for people wanting to buy today, why mention waiting till Christmas - bizarre!!!!

Oh I see! - Asda are bring down the price of all their food items in December so if you can hang on till Christmas you'll be quids in that's if you've not starved to death!!

A good post - too many trolls hiding under the bridge around here - scary and saddo's!

I second that. I'm currently trying to find a decent deal for a PS3. Nearly bought one a couple of months back. 80gb model with 2 games, Blu Ray remote and a Blu Ray movie for £299. Decided that I'd spent too much money recently and I could only justify buying one if I sold a load of stuff on flea bay to cover the cost. Now have £300 burning a hole in my pocket and the PS3 seems to be getting more expensive or the £299 price tag is still available but without a bundle. Will just have to hold fire for a while I guess. :x

Becausce there are price cuts due this year 1 around april and 1 in december so the overall price will be much lower at end of the year, if your desperate for a ps3 now then price wouldn't matter anyways if you can hang on they will be a bargain by end of the year and hopefully have some good games to play by then aswell

killzone 2 does look pretty awesome though...

the yen hasn't collapsed - last time i checked 1 yen was worth 70% more against the pound than this time last year.
it's rocketed.

While you wait for the price to drop to £149, I will enjoy playing Killzone - which is awesome, and when you do buy a PS3 - Killzone 3 will be out. :p

cool I could enjoy them both then lol, I already owned a ps3 and sold it to buy my xbox360 I personally prefer the games on 360 (I know all you fanboys will attack now). Mearly pointing out that the ps3 will drop in price this year and will be its lowest price in december. Remember the ps3 they sell now is a basic model you can't even play ps2 games on it so really £250 is a lot of money for it imo...

I was always a Xbox 360 fan but they are a pain in the ass, not had one for a while but mine was very noisy, the power pack took up half the space behind my TV cabinet and you have to pay for Xbox Live.

The achievements are better and more satisfying on the Xbox but other than that i prefer the PS3 - but each to their own.

lol "I know all you fanboys" yeah when you clearly are the biggest one here :p. A Decent blu ray player is £150 plus so its unrealistic to think that a ps3 will be £149, £149 as a matter of interest, why not add the extra squid and make it £150? :w00t: anyway.... Imagine the 360 price if it had a blu ray drive.

Anyway I love my wii

i'd rather pay £299 and get a bunch of stuff with it

Yeh, was gonna say the same thing.

Prices may go up because the GBP is worth a lot less in Yen, not the other way round.
#28
For anyone waiting after reading the "price drop coming" posts, don't. There has been no suggestion by Sony that they will cut the price (admittedly, they would say that until it happens though) and other Sony branded items are rising in price.

There is nothing to indicate that they will drop the price, but if they do, I doubt it will be anything more drastic than £279.99, so this is a good deal.

Plus, that 5 year guarantee looks ridiculous to me, how on earth do they not lose loads of money on it? I assume people forget to reclaim the money?
#29
The warranty is usually not worth the paper it is written on, always some disclaimer and non transferable from 1 company to the other as well.

Ps3 should be £199 all it is worth, they are having a lend of you if they claim anything different. I paid £900+ for my 2 release ps3's and they were worth it :not

Just get an 80 gig for £250 on Zavvi if want one now ans we're finished here! Or anyone know what prices the cash and carry's like Makro and Costco are nowadays????

Still not as cheap as the deal I posted ages ago which was instantly taken off 'whilst the merchant was checked out'. Website was www.filmgiant.co.uk and price was £239.99 for the 80GB or £219.99 for the 40GB - still available I think! I ordered and received a Batman Blu-Ray from them no problem at all. Was this actually checked out or not? I am guessing not... should I have heard something or would the deal be posted once checked out??

I have had warranties from RIcher Sounds in the past and they are the best around, to get the money back you go back in 5 years into ANY store and give them the form that they give you and they will give you cash out of the till, there is a 2 month window in which to get it back.
For example if you bought one today with the warranty you could claim the money back between 26/01/2014 - 26/03/2014.
Even if you do forget its fantastic value for money and peace of mind, if it breaks and cannot be fixed then you get a like for like replacement which in 5 years will be far better than a 80gb version.

Its this simple

Sony are now in a catch 22 situation. All the people who want PS3s have them and all the people who might have bought one wont do it until its a realistic price and double the price of the 360 isnt it.

PS3 fanboys can bleat all they want about blu-rays and extra features, the bottom line is that the 360 is a better bet gameswise and pricewise.

They have LOST this generation and hopefully it means that they will come back a bit more humble and realistic the next time because the PS3 is the biggest white elephant in console history It cost Sony almost $1Bn in R&D with that and the Bu-ray project and both have been a financial disaster.

It was going to redefine games in a manner we had never seen before remember? The next gen started when Sony said so. 1080p all the way. The only thing it ever did was redefine wait times for triple A titles. KZ2 Advertised in 2005 and released in 2009? What an absolute disgrace. Gran Tourismo again advertised in 2005 and still not out yet.

Its only a matter of time till Sir Howard Stringer goes the same way as Ken Kuteragi and Phil Harrison and the failure of the PS3 project will be complete.

you know that the ps3 sold as many consoles as the xbox 360 last year don't you? why would anyone want a console to fail?? what has sony done to you for you to want them to fail? even if i dislike the xbox - which i don't because i own as many xbox games as ps3 games - i would never want a console to fail. the ps3 is perfectly fine and the console market is perfectly fine with three competing manufacturers that give us choice and games to play with.

oh btw, if you think sony losing one billion dollars is a big deal then maybe you should consider ms games division:

ms games division lost 9 billion dollars (give or take a billion) in total:

http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2006/10/13/microsoft-lost-126-billion-launching-the-xbox-360.htm

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2007/07/20/xbox_division_loses_2_billion_this_year/1

i don't think there is a single games company on earth that could have afforded a 8/9 billion dollar lost in 7 years in its NEWLY FORMED gaming business.

give me 8 billion dollars and i reckon i have a pretty good chance of winning this generation i.e. my point is it isn't such a great achievement if you can outspend your competitors many times over. nothing to gloat over.

i just hope that we will still have three consoles next generation to choose from given ms obsession will killing competition/giving the consumer choice.

The best thing is PS3 1080P games are almost none existant, most are sub 720p! So much for a full HD next gen gaming console!
