Online it seems to have Lair and Ridge racer 7 with it. Is this instore only?
#2
I would hold out on buying ps3 for now as they are due to release a new model of it soon according to rumours.
#3
seems good but its not an online deal.
i still prefer the amazon deal.

2 games (wide selection) + HDMI for £330

and then if you want burnout paradise its an extra £20

those rumours have been going on for months. The new rumour i heard was that the 80gb new model is only going to get released in Europe and not in the UK

Must confess... I'm bone idle & can't be bothered with a 4 bus ride round trip.

Besides, if I did do that I'd end up in the boozer and the £299 tag would shoot up to £330 anyway.

Good deal though!?!

New rumours are afoot this week of a 120gb model to be released shortly, although nothing has been confirmed Sony in any territory.

This is a decent deal for the high-street, sadly the choice of games is likely to be a little lacklustre as it seems to be an ASDA deal in partnership with EA. The Amazon deal gives you a better choice of games but obviously costs more (although you do get an HDMI cable as well)

Might be worth heading to Gamestation after your trip to ASDA and trading in the trash EA games for something decent :)

Sony are supposed to be announcing a new pack today:-

40gb PS3 + Uncharted + Ratchet & clank + 2nd Sixaxis (£299-£349)?

Just upgraded my PS3 with a 2.5" SATA 5400rpm laptop drive from Ebuyer which cost around £70 delivered. I now have a 250GB PS3 :) And the 40GB drive is going on Ebay.

The funny thing is that the 80gb model is being fazed out in the USA and they are going to bring in an even bigger model now, ffs! I wish Sony would just make uop their flipping mind on this one, once and for all!!

Just rung up my local asda and they don't know anything about the deal.

Not sure what to make of it really. You can't go into a store and say that the offer is online cause they will say "Sorry sir but online is a seperate business" blaa blaa

The amazon deal is starting to appeal unless anyone else can confirm in the offer is running in stores?

Cheers

sony cant help themselves. they will keep releasing different models.
personally i dont mind as the price generally comes down a bit each time.
i would prefer it if they release one with no harddrive at all, so i can put my own in without the hassle of selling the original on ebay like someone mentioned earlier, but thats not going to happen.
#12
not sure if you can class this as confirmation, but it does say the same info as this offer.

not so impressed with the online feature they have. needs improving. COME ON SONY!!!!!!!!
#14
Cheers. might give asda another call shortly and ask to speak to a manager or something. See if this deal will be in my local store today or not.

You can get that price now pretty much from the online retailers. Best bundle looks to be HMV's ultimate which is PS3 + 2 Games + 2 Blu Ray + HDMI Cable for £360 (+ Quidco) but then you need to buy a second sixaxis if you need one.

Why on Earth does agames console need a 120GB hard drive? Can you copy every game to it? If not, then I don't see what could possibly fill the space.

i think its more for the US market, i know you can use a 360 to record tv etc so i can only assume the PS3 does/will do the same? plus with the increase of downloaded games & HD download movie rental etc. Plus a PS3 is designed as a media centre so music/pictures etc

Just seems to be the way forward for media. Hence no one should really care if HD-DVD or Blu-ray win. In a few years it'll all be about harddrive.

With games like Devil May Cry wanting to eat 5gb I guess having the free space would be handy.

sony are releasing "PlayTV" which allows you to use the PS3 as a PVR

See Link

It's already released in Japan, don't know when its coming here though,

Been looking at this deal for the past week and deciding whether to get it or wait or for the rumors to eventually come true. hmmmmmmmm

I think the poster is getting confused with the TV/Movie downloads you can do on the 360

As far as I can tell best deal is still Zavvi instore, using the virgin mastercard 10% deal.

I got PS3 40Gb + Burnout Paradise for £266 on saturday , sold Burnout for £35, making it £231 fro the console.
banned#27
Anyone thinking of waiting in the hope of getting a 180gb or whatever size version should know that the 40gb is easily upgraded and the PS3 manual even gives you instructions on how to do it etc sso no worries about voiding any warranty.
#28
What do you mean by Zavvi instore ? I thought Zawi was the online version of Virgin megastores ? So do Virgin megastores offer a better deal than the online Zawi one ?

Sony are releasing "PlayTV" soon, which will allow you to use the Ps3 like a PVR and record digital TV. It's already out in Japan, but don't know of any release dates for anywhere else.

Zavvi are the new owners of virgin megastores and online, they are in the process of rebranding all the stores (ours has already changed over)

and yes there instore deals are better

off the top of my head the instore deals are

PS3 40gb £299 with free burnout paradise
PS3 + any game + sixaxis £335

And I was thinking somewhere in between...:whistling:

The ability to record TV could tip the scales though. Thanks for thre feed back and links folks. I'll have a scout through them in a mo!
#36
actually, if the rumours of the tv tuner device are true and it is £100, then its a very bad deal if you want it for that.
i was expecting it to be no more than £40, as its just a dual tuner card in a box.
i have seen freeview pvrs with dual tuners on this site for £100, and that includes the harddrive.

in fact the more i think about it, the more i realise that the tv tuner add on for the ps3 is a total rip off :x
