Don't forget 4% Quidco as well (£1.49)

Must be getting ready for the dual shock 3!
#3
Great find, HOT
#4
Probably getting rid of stock before the Dual Shock 3s come out. Personally I'd wait for or import a DS3. The sixaxis is soon to be pretty redundant, it's a very poor controller.

Cue the usual whining along the lines of 'It's a great deal for people who don't want rumble...' etc.

.

I already have a couple of the DS3 and it is nice to feel the beefy rumble as you blast someone in UT3 with the flak cannon but as for saying the sixaxis is a 'very poor controller' the only thing new with the DS3 is the rumble and the slight difference in weight due to this
#6

can you expand on why its a very poor controller? ive used both and could only feel a weight difference, added rumble, and a bit higher quality materials.

but looking at the sixaxis on its own, couldnt fault it :?

Mine were from ebay, it doesnt matter where they originate from, they will all be exactly the same and work on any PS3 console, you could even go for one of the snazzy white ones just to have something different!

Asides from ebay, there are some reputable websites that will import them into the UK, such as yesasia, mentioned above

I know I am. My DS3 is on the way from Japan all for the princely sum of £25.

Great deal for two controllers, hot.
#14
wish microsoft would do a deal like this for the 360 average price of their controls is still like £25
#15
Maybe the 2 controller offer is not bad after looking at reviews of the rumble pad..
The reviews for the Rumble pad have so far been pretty poor -

http://www.ugo.com/ugo/html/article/?id=18381§ionId=51

I.E -
Considering the rumble is the only possible reason you'd pick up the DualShock 3, it's pretty underwhelming. Compared to the Xbox 360's rumble, which feels like a miniature horse bucking its way in the palm of your hands, the DualShock 3 feels more like a slightly agitated cockroach that's had one too many mochas. You can feel it, sure but in games like Resistance you really should feel like you're blasting away with a machinegun, instead of feeling like your cell phone just went off in your hands. I'd say the rumble is on par with the Wiimote's rumble, which is to say, pretty forgettable.

It's exactly the same controller as the DS3, only without the rumble feature. I don't see how it makes it a poor controller.

Got my DS3 from thegamecollection.net last month for £29.99 delivered! Way better build quality than sixaxis!
#18
This is a great price for 2 controllers. especially if youre not bothered about rumble.

Would you mind elaborating on which online store that is exactly? I got one at £29ish from eBay and I thought that was a good deal.

It's a very poor controller for exactly the reasons you've specified. It doesn't have rumble which has been ubiquitous in joypads for many many years now and adds significantly to the gaming experience. And the lack of weight makes it feel like it was made by Tomy or something, it feels very flimsy. The DS3 is significantly better.
#24
Kaprikawn - So your saying that the DS3 is SIGNIFICANTLY better becuase it rumbles and weighs a bit more. Bit harsh to say the sixaxes is poor and the DS3 is brilliant when they are the only differences. Get a Grip.
#25
I've just returned from Hong Kong and whilst I was over there visted the Sony shop and bought two DS3 for £23 each. Great controller and the rumble is very powerful. The added weight also helps the feel.

Nothing wrong the originally controller though, just thought I'd replace them as it was so cheap, and can recover most of the money back for my normal controllers.
#26
picked up a silver dual shock for £18 in akihabra last week :) now do i get a white ds to get all colours :)
#27
Great value for money!

Voted HOT!

You can also use a Varsity card (once it's registered on their website) to get a 5% discount.

If anyone doesn't have one or can't be bothered:whistling:, use mine - PM me for the number.

I think Sixaxis is quite good, infact I quite liked how its lighter and therefore more comfortable to play when lying down etc.

Yes Asia is your best bet - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/153595/sony-ps3-dualshock3-wireless-contro/

Works out at just over £25 after you use the voucher and get your Quidco - takes about a week/10 days to arrive - and no import duty to pay! :) oh, and you can use Paypal to pay if you like.

If these are indeed the std non dualshock then I;d suggest avoiding them - however why on earth is there a release date of 23/05/2008 listed against something that's been out for years.
#33
my two pennys worth is:

i've 3 controllers, all black., 1 dual shock and 2 sixaxis, all charging in front of my ps3.

when i sit down to play i pick up the closest controller, somtimes it's the rumble one, sometimes it isn't. if it isn't i don't put it down and swap it.....i just start playing.

exactly the same with me. i have three sixaxis and 2 dualshocks and couldn't care less what controller i pick up so long as they have juice left in the battery.

I said the DS3 is significantly better than the sixaxis, I can't remember saying the DS3 is brilliant. The 360 pad is brilliant, the DS3 is merely ok, the trigger buttons are too mushy and the sticks aren't the best which means it falls short of being described as brilliant.

And please could you learn the difference between 'your' (which denotes possession) and 'you're' (which is a contraction of 'you are'). Also, it would've been better to emphasise 'significantly' with italics rather than capital letters. Oh, and 'Grip' didn't need a capital letter.

don't think the buttons on the ds is mushy at all. in fact the majority of gamers prefer the ds for fighting, rpg and driving games because the buttons are more precise. but for fps the the 360pad is a million miles better because the thumbstick, thumbstick layout and triggers are better.

it's all opinions but to say that the sixaxis is rubbish is a bit over the top.

My in-laws are Japanese so they are sending it over. But the £29 price is a great deal as it doesn't require marrying into :-D

As you're being pedantic, 'OK' should be in capitals. I would've thought you knew better...

Just kidding, before you react.
