The new PSP-3000 Model Slim & Lite is the latest version of the Sony handheld console. While succeeding the basic functions and design philosophy of the current PSP including a 4.3 inch wide high resolution LCD screen, overwhelmingly large for a handheld device, new PSP is 33 percent lighter and 19 percent slimmer than the original version.

Adding a video-out port enables new PSP users to experience high quality UMD (Universal Media Disc) Video, pictures and movies from Memory Stick Duo and game software titles on their TVs at home. Also, the new PSP is equipped with enhanced feature to temporarily store game data from UMD, reducing load time during game play. Moreover, the ability to charge the unit through PLAYSTATION3 or PC via USB cable during data transfer is newly equipped, further positioning PSP as a true handheld device.

Pack contains Black PSP-3000 model Slim & Lite console, AC Charger, FIFA 09 game

If you're an Amazon Affiliate, you will get this for about £120, which is even better!

This is the PSP 3003 version, which came out last month. Don't confuse it with last year's Slim and Lite PSP 2003 model, which is available cheaper and with various bundle offers.

Cheers for this posting this, I am after a PSP, what is the best offer on the market at the moment?

I also have been looking for the best deal and as it stands, I think this is the best deal so far, there doesn't seem to be much difference between prices of the Psp 2000 and 3000, only concern is the screen problems that people mention, but I think if you don't have a Psp, then the Psp 3000 is the one to go for.

There aren't many offers for the PSP 3000 at the moment. The 3000 can only play original games at the moment, so a lot of people are holding off getting one/upgrading.

What do you mean original games mate?

I would be buying games from retailers, so not sure what u mean. Sorry if I am being a bit slow

I bought one yesterday from GameStation on the high street bundle with fifa 09 and a choice of one other game for £139.99, I traded my two year old psp in they gave £50 against the new one.

He means the PSP 3000 is yet to be hacked by the modding community. There are rumours that a new Datel battery will do the trick but its not really confirmed.

Original Games = Shop Bought Games (you are fine to use any PSP with any bought game)

With the two previous PSP's there are ways to make them play games from the memory card. This can also be used to run additional "homebrew" software like emulators.
#9
Don't bother if you have a fairly new 2003, not worth it!

Should always get them to pricematch CEX would have got a min of £17.00 extra http://www.cex.co.uk/search/index.php?stext=psp§ion=all&ispostback=1&mode=sell

I got a 3000 the day they came out, the sad thing is FIFA is the game where the lines on the screen are most noticeable, most games you cant really tell but it will bug you in fifa and when watching films

When you say that the lines are visible on Fifa and movies, is this when you are really close up to the screen, or is it at a normal distance from the screen?

The new model (PSP-3000, "PSP-3003" for the UK) has an enhanced brighter screen:

The Universal Media Disc drive door has had a face (or should that be a 'bottom'?) lift too:

There is also now a Built-in microphone, and an enhanced signal from the Video Out port.

Cex would not take mine as it had a hairline crack on the casing around the screw recess, GameStation took it without even examining it.

Screen issues (or, rather, scan line issues) with the newer, "Slim & Brite" (PSP-3000) series, compared to the previous "Slim & Lite" (PSP-2000) series...

i thought i read somewhere that the 2003 got the brighter screen via firmware update, could be wrong?

There are three questions then concerning the Psp 3000
1. Are these scan lines a minor or major distraction? e.g would you take it back if you noticed them?
2. At what distance are they noticeable? Only when you are extremely close up, or at normal playing distance?
3. If you did not have a Psp, would you buy the Psp 2000 or the 3000?
#19
If you already own a psp-2003 then no need for an upgrade. If this is your first psp, then buy psp-3003,it is updated psp with more features e.g. build it microphone (skype)

Id rather get someother game than fifa...

1. They are a major distraction on FIFA not so bad on other games, noticeable in films, I havent took mine back but im lazy. In films you will occasionally see the lines at the edges of a fast moving dark object against a light background, thats why fifa is so bad, when the camera sweeps all the men turin into black lines for a split second, not during the rest of the game though

2. they are noticeable at playing distance !

3. The 2000 can obviously be hacked etc but it still has the ghosting effect on the screen, the 3000 has a better D-pad, built in mic etc but the annoying scanlines, id still go for the 3000 as they are both the same price and lines are only as annoying as the ghosting

Bad advice and a complete waste of money for someone purchasing this console.

Seems like a good deal. You can get the PSP 3000 in Gamestation in Edinburgh with Fifa plus 4 other games for £159.99. Given you could sell the 4 games for around £40 means the unit plus Fifa for £120. (Not sure how the 'heat adding' works, if it's by me replying or having to do something

Thanks for your advice, got the Psp 3000 for my son and all i can say is 'Wow!'
Maybe if he had a psp 2000 first it would be noticable, but i have tried movies and games on it and the screen is vibrant, at this moment can't fault it, would recommend it to anyone. good piece of kit!

Just need to convince a few more people to buy them now (in order to save the jobs of 8,000 Sony employees by April 2010).

Glad you like the console anyway.

Happy gaming.
