Seems a good deal I'm tempted, sell the Petz thingy, are these un-hackable?
#2
good price, tempted also....
#3
a terrible machine though, but a good price
#4
Great deal - I bought the same pack from HMV a month or so ago (£109.99) - sold both games for around a tenner each on ebay without too much trouble.
#5
Good price for PSP3000 Hot

MVC2010 still seems to knock a fiver off!

couldn't resist, so got one... :)

I was tempted by the recent HMV deal & never got around to buying. White isn't the best choice of colour, in my opinion, (even though I already have a PSP-2000 series in White!) but this is the cheapest the console has been available so far.

Thanks, theloveboat!

"Head" added.

Is this price drop because Sony are to release a PSPhone? Or is it because Game are in a bit of financial trouble, so they are trying to get some £ back as soon as possible?

Heat added btw

Go on then... I'll bite; why do you think the PSP 3000 series console is "a terrible machine"?

Not just the 3000 series don't get me wrong, i think the PSP is one of the worst consoles i have ever owned whatever flavour. But this is just my opinino, there are many others who like it and this is a great deal for them.

But its 5 years since release and even though it has been successful in terms of sales it suffers from a few problems.

screen motion blur, battery life, awful controls and a very odd media to name but a few.

I like my PSP. Graphics are way better than the DSi. Games are more playable, it's better for watching video and so on.

Batteries are inter-changeable so it's not difficult to have more than 1 and swap it over.

I think this is a brilliant deal.
#15
thanks op just bought £82.49 with voucher and points used + £1.23 quidco + £2.25 in points so potentially less than £60 for console if kids dont want the games
#16
Am tempted.Anyone know how much game trade in value for ds lite is?

As of a few minutes ago [:)], I have (at least) one of each model to date (including an original Japanese PSP 1000 series from December 2004) up to, & including, the most recent iteration, the PSP Go.

Each revision to the screen does improve on the motion issues (but that is often title-dependent anyway). I have had almost 7 hours usage per charge for my PSP 2000 series, but my PSP 1000 only seems to manage 3 to 3.5 hours now (as it probably needs a new cell replacement).

I grant you that the console should have had dual control "sticks" (or "nubs") or something to emulate the DualShock controller layout, and the shoulder (trigger) buttons are not always comfortable to hold for prolonged periods of time.

As for the bespoke media format; the Universal Media Disc [UMD]. This is an on-going debate as you are probably aware. It has been with the console for the first three revisions (including the model in this deal listing), but was removed in the (latest) PSP Go console only to be reconsidered for a decision reversal for the next iteration of the handheld device.

I personally don't mind them. They can be a pain to store give that the plastic boxes they are issued in are about twice as big as they need to be (to accommodate the game manual), but as long as you treat them with care they should out-live the anticipated ownership period of the console (say, 10+ years).

What has been lacking with the devices has been support in terms of software because the PSP 1000 & PSP 2000 units were widely used for (so-called, but incorrectly named) "homebrew" applications; more commonly (& correctly) recognised as "pirated" games run from the on-board memory stick facilities removing any form of revenue from the software publishers & developers. Without sales any organisation is going to stop offering items for sale. However, Sony have taken this on-board now with the revised PSP 3000 & PSP Go models, and have also introduced the PSP (& PS3) "minis" range of titles that can be purchased on the PlayStation Store for a vastly reduced cost compared to more established game franchises so that "pick up & play" (or "casual" market) games can be bought & downloaded to a memory stick to avoid the need to also carry UMD-based media with the console.

Oh yes, and two other factors affecting sales...

The Nintendo DS
The Apple "App Store"

Do you have anything positive to say about the PlayStation Portable?

can you put homebrew on these

depends, you can have a loader that allows for homebrew and cfw but you need to load it everytime you turn it on, but im sure its depends on the model in teh 3000 series, i dont know much as mine are both 2000 models so i am fine.

Was going to get the Petz one but will get silver one instead so thanks for linking! Both good deals, just prefer it in silver!

Are the Petz and/or Monster Hunter bundles hackable?

From what I've found online the firmware needs to be 5.03

What firmware are these bundles?

Thanks.

I can let you know when my order(s) arrive, if you like; but I am buying a PSP 3000 series model to play commercially available retail software on Universal Media Discs not to reduce the revenue of the video gaming industry even more than they are experiencing of late.

If nobody pays for the software for their consoles eventually no organisation will be able to afford to publish any video games & no software development companies will be able to afford to make any.

If you value playing video games on consoles, handheld, or otherwise, I suggest you consider this approach too.

You didn't & neither did I. But you knew what i was hinting at even though you typed "hackable" not "crackable".

Do you write the homebrew software yourself?
Which PSP software development kit are you using?
Perhaps we can swap tips.

No I don't write homebrew software, what's that got to do with anything?

You're a moron if you think people who install custom firmware do it just for piracy? Does every iPhone and iPod jailbreaker download illegal apps? I think not. Cfw is often about getting more out of a device and not just piracy.

I'll ignore your name-calling, but well done with the quick edit of Your" to "You're".

I cannot answer your question as I do not know everybody who has an iPhone or iPad in the state you described.

Neither can I suggest how many people install custom firmware (non-official Sony system software) on their PlayStation Portable devices to play games from a memory stick or just to have a greater choice of audio & video codecs, use royalty-free or “freeware” software, or for any other legal activity.

Do you have a summary of the statistics you are using as reference?

Thanks.

Do I have a summary of the statistics? Lmao you're a funny guy.

But if you're actually being serious, then it's even funnier.

Btw the way you talk over the internet is awesome, if you talk like that in person, wow!

I hear that a lot... especially in circumstances when somebody cannot substantiate a point they are trying to make. If we ever meet I suppose you will find out how I speak but yes, I type how I speak; it makes it so much easier to transpose what I am thinking & intending to convey.

OK, I will help you out... By your use of the word "often" in your statement, "Cfw is often about getting more out of a device and not just piracy", I will presume you meant that you wish to use Custom Firmware for purposes other than those you believed I was referring to, not that you were inferring that it is the typical usage of PSP console owners.

Given that the release date of the "Petz" PSP bundle was 3 July 2009, & Sony's Official System Software Update 5.03 was available from 20 January 2009, with version 5.51 available from 11 June 2009, I would guess that you are not going to be lucky.

The "Monster Hunter Freedom Unite" title & the associated PSP bundled was released in the UK (& most of Europe) on 26 June 2009. Again, you may be lucky, but perhaps not.

I can still provide the information you need when my two orders (a "Petz" bundle & a "Monster Hunter Freedom Unite" bundle) arrive.

I was only trying to help you, after all.

BFN,

fp.
