Sorry cant get link working

Don't forget the PC World price promise to beat the price by 10% of the difference (Argos is included in their list of merchants). As the difference in this case is £20.40, they're obliged to deduct £2.04 from the price, and sell it to you for £2.55!

I did this at PC World a few months ago when Comet was clearing out PSP God Of War, and it worked a treat. :)

Excellent deal, picked up 1 copy in Currys for £2.55 after price promise and then picked up another in PC world for £2.19 ( they had difficulty working out 10% of the difference :whistling: )
Many thanks OP , Heat added

PC World have never price matched for me. They always want to wriggle out of it. They also make you feel so cheap instore when they phone up the other store. I'd rather give the business to Argos.
#7
LOL! I was in my local store picking up the PS3 triggers when I saw another guy standing in the till with this game, & 3 other members of staff around him, him trying to explain & having to repeat over & over, I was wondering what the fuss was all about, just saw this thread & no wonder! and 2 of the staff must have been "Fresh off the boat", having trouble understanding the guys local Scottish accent LOL.

must be a HUKDer LOL, trying to price match this game with Argos, PCW staff stubborn/useless as usual, had to go back & forth asking manager, phoning other stores, all the fuss & didn't really know how to do the price match +110%, what a farce! first time I've seen someone in my small town trying to do a price match, what an eye opener LOL!

& agree with the above poster, always get cheap looks in store, rather pay £2 more to argos, incompetance of pcw is quite astonishing.

Got mines today, Well I had two choices, the PCW is excellent at price matches but the currys the manager he is so stuck up he never lets good deals out fast. So I went to Currys, the manager took 30 mins trying to find a way to say no to me. But had to give, the biggest problem was that the price was 4.59 plus the diffrence of 10%. He actually told me to go to Argos and buy it if its that cheap. And guess what he took all the games off the shelf and took the sticker out.

I have never seen a manager like that.

But did get it.

thanks heat and rep added.
#9
wow he actually did that? all the hassle of taking all stickers out? I'm hearing something new/negative from pcw/currys everday lol.

so you finally managed to get it from this stingy manager after 30mins?
#10
I picked up a copy in PCW (East Kilbride) last night for £2.55. I had to wait a few mins for the till guy to discuss it with the manager, but after that it was honoured without any problems. :)
#11
yeh the pcw east kilbride it excellent but next door currys that manager is so stingy. pcw just takes time to calculate but if you manage to get the indian guy who has a bit of walking disorder he is excellent.. He has price matched so much for me and its never been a problem. But the girls are a bit slow. Anyways at the end you got it thats great.

Just picked this up from the Corstorphine, Edinburgh branch. No problem getting the price match.

At least one copy left on the shelf after I had bought mine.
#13
Just got one from Hartlepool currys think your best off using reserve and collect then using the price match.

They're not honouring it, because it's a 'Special Offer'. How ridiculous! They weren't having any of it

Pay by card, but it doesn't matter now, seeing as they're not honouring the price match

I don't think anyone could post it to you for £0.45, and they'd probably like a little something more for their time (half an hour arguing with a manager in PC world, BFH etc) :whistling:

Not with paypal, unfortunately... so I guess you're stuck? You can get a paypal topup card for £5 and transfer your paypal funds there, or withdraw paypal to the bank... the offer's probably gone by the time you've done all that though.

As long as it's in stock they should honour it, there's a link to the wording of the price match guarantee above.

The whole point of the guarantee is that they're confident they already have the lowest price! If they don't want to pay out on it, they should have a system in place of quickly changing the price or getting everything off the shelves!

Excellent deal - just checked stock online in local Argos then quick trip down to local Currys (after reserving online). I got 2 copies one for me and one for friend, total paid at till £5-10p (for two). Thanks to OP for great deal, voted HOT.

Anyone near Farnborough: There's 5 in stock at Argos Farnborough, none left in Currys, but you might want to try PCWorld for price match deal.

I had no problem at all at the checkout, in fact the young girl said it was a good deal and was well spotted!
#23
Right, being a Currys employee (yeah, i know) the reason why some stores including PC World ones might be hesitant to honour it is down to price promises also being included in the discount levels. I don't know if this is applicable to all Currys/PC World stores but the one i work in has had its discount percentages cut, thus meaning less discounts.

I'm not saying the price promise is wrong, just trying to make people see why some will be reluctant to price promise it.

Who, on the phone? I'd think they should if you're persistent. People are still getting it in stores... if the "special offer" thing was a known clause for getting out of this, then I think all those stingy managers would be using it all the time!

'reluctant' and 'promise' in the same sentance in my mind is a contradiction of terms! A 'promise' is to be honoured....

I spoke to the advisor and then to the supervisor, but they were not budging.

What I've done is order online at £24.99 and I've just emailed them to get the refund, as it states I have up to 7 days to claim a Price Promise
#27
They cannot say its a special offer, as the price promise card for currys says

"*Find a cheaper price for the same product and offer in another retail store ( which has stock ready for delivery) and we'll price match it and beat it by 10% of the diffrence."

The manager in currys tried his best to find a way to say no to me, but he couldnt find anything.

They are just trying and if ppl take thier word it suits them if not then they have to give it, and if you ask them to show your terms and conditons stating this condition they have no way around it.

the manager i delt with actually then went back and took all games left off the shelf and the ticket price too.

so that means he knew other would come to for that offer as well.

Good luck to all

Update

Popped to the store today to pick up another product, but also tried getting a price match on the game.

No problems at all. The guy went to the manager and he nodded and it was put through as £4.59 and after mentioning the 110% difference he knocked it down to £2.19 (he worked it out in his head)

All in all, very pleased. Now I'm off to cancel the online order
