Seems there's something making this "out of date" hence the price I would presume. Great price though.

I've been offered one of these from a friend who won one. He wants £95 for it but I'm not sure due to the whole "Games only downloadable via PSN" deal.

They have god of war for £15 whereas my local WHSmiths had it for £5.

Any opinions or views/ reviews?

Good deal for the price BTW.

Buy the old generation PSP. This new 1, although looks very nice, is ruined by the fact that you can only pay for games via one website owned by Sony. Hence the prices are not going to be competive and much more expensive than the UMD equivalent (which is stupid considering their getting rid of the need for packaging, production, plastic, etc.) Plus, you can't resell the games after you've bought them so for me, its just a stupid idea which hasn't been though through properly by Sony.

Its abit like iTunes, buy a digital movie for £9.99 or go and buy a hard copy in the shop for the same price (or cheaper). Doesn't make sense to me at all.

You could do what I did, and go instead for the fully featured, UMD compatible upgrade called the "PSP 3000". ;)

In all seriousness though, unless you REALLY don't mind paying a premium of around double (or more) for each game, you're wiser going for a PSP Slim and Lite, as UMD games are really cheap. You still also have all the features of PSN that the PSP Go has, all you need is a memory stick (I got a 8GB one for £18).

Still, added heat for the deal itself.

The PSP Go was intended for customers who do not already own a PSP console &/or a selection of Universal Media Disc titles; much like yourself.

If you wish to pay near-Recommended Retail Price for your games but have the convenience of not having to carry them around separately just in case you may wish to play any of them then buy a PSP Go (or install custom firmware on one of the first two revisions of the PSP hardware).

However, if you like buying a cheaper console, cheaper titles on a physical format (when you can find them), and are careful with the ownership of these discs (i.e. it is difficult to scratch a digital file so it cannot be played but if you do corrupt the data you can just re-download it from the PlayStation Store) then buy an earlier PSP model.

I've lost count how many times I'm typed a similar response in the past six months, but I'll do it again...

The price of the downloadable games on the PlayStation Store are set near to the Recommended Retail Price for a reason.

That being that if they were the same, or cheaper, than the physical format (Universal Media Discs) then retailers would not be inclined to sell the hardware as they is very little profit for them in doing so if that is the only sale they will have during your ownership of that console.

There is far more profit in you returning to a retailer to purchase games on a physical format as this is an ongoing cost over a longer period.

We’ve Extended Our PSPgo Free Game Offer
---
Hello everyone.

I would like to announce that the PSPgo Promotion which allows you to download a free game when you buy a PSPgo has been extended until 31st January. So there is still time to take advantage of this offer. Details on the promotion and how to redeem are below.

Thanks!
Adam

I am very happy to announce a new promotion for PSPgo! If you buy a PSPgo you can get either the ultra-realistic driving simulator Gran Turismo, brutal off-road racer MotorStorm Arctic Edge or awesome action-adventure Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines to download completely free! In Germany the 3 games that are on offer are Gran Turismo, MotorStorm Arctic Edge and LittleBigPlanet.

All you have to do is set up or sign into your PlayStationNetwork account, then visit PlayStationStore to download a special PSPgo Promotion Theme.

This will trigger an email from PlayStationStore containing an e-voucher. Enter the code onto the PlayStationStore via your PSPgo and select which game you would like to download. The voucher will be with you within a week, but you should get it much quicker than that.

In addition to those of you looking to pick up a PSPgo, this offer is also available to all existing PSPgo owners. So if you have bought your PSPgo before today you will be able to go onto the store right now, download the PSPgo Promotion Theme and we will send you a voucher to download one of the great games on offer!

For the full details and a step by step guide please click here or visit eu.playstation.com/pspgopromotion.

Happy Holidays!
Adam

If he is offering it for £95.00 then I would snap his hand off!!!! I have both and have to say, I really prefer the go, ok games cost a little more but there are quite a few offers on making them similar prices to the stores.
It looks much better to whip out on public transport and is SO small when in your pocket!! You are paying for the convenience of having all your games in one place, no extra baggage!! also it has lots more Ram 16 GB (14 useable) so you can easily pay £30 -£80 for that much GB on a memory card. Although I did pick up and 8gb card for my Go from Play.com for £19.99!!!!! the Go feels much more slicker and classier , the screen is far better and the thumbstick it really smooth and feels much more accurate than the older 3000. I still like the 3000 too though! but if I was going out for the day I would take the GO if I was chillin at home I would use either.
