Definitely off topic, but I need some suggestions!

I really couldn't decide which one will suits me best: this PSP Slim, iPod Touch or iPod Classic. I am going to use it as a portable movie system, already got a very nice Sony MP3 player, so music isn't too important. The ability to browse internet is also handy.

PSP: well, I play a bit video game, and there are some PS games I'd like to play at the moment. Has biggest screen amount these three products, and I can also use internet. I just don't know how easy (or difficult) to transfer the movie to the player. Also, it's a big too big if compare to the other two.

iPod Touch: Never own any iPod products, and this one is really beautiful. Memory capacity bugs me a little, and the costs the the most expensive one.

iPod Classic: the 2.5 inch screen is the smallest here, however, 80G memory is huge (well, to me).

So, really have no ideas!!!

By the way, very useful code.

Id go with the PSP.

Easy, get the PSP.

as for portable movies...can you really see yourself carrying around a psp?

i like them but i dont know if its portable enough, i wouldnt have it with me if i didnt have a bag. not to mention most expensive for storage, dunno how much 4/8gb sticks are nowadays

ipod classic screen is good for tv shows but i wouldnt watch an entire movie on it

You can get 4gb memory for the PSP from Play for under £30!

How long is that code valid for? It works I just tried it as well. I thought getting a PSP at Virgin Megastores with the 10% discount for £117 was good but with the £20 off discount code for John Lewis I can get a PSP for £9 cheaper. I will ordering this soon and Silent Hill Origins at Virgin Megastores Online (just over £20 with Virgin Credit Card discount) which will be £129 for both. Great deal:thumbsup:

chh33, just thought I'd throw in the Creative Zen Vision:M in to the mix for you. I've seen a lot of good deals on these on this site, bought one a couple of months ago and have been really happy with it.

Problems i've noticed with my brothers and friends' ipods is that the ones I've seen have all developed 'dead pixels' on the screen. And from my personal experience, 4gb isnt really enough if you want to carry around more than two or three movies at a time...

The PSP Screen is nice, but decently encoded movies take up 500-700Mb so you cant take much with you, and as stated the PSP is bulky - I think the new ones have very poor battery life as well.

I have a 5G 80GB iPOD. I have 30Gb of video on it - all of which perfectly watchable on a commune and/or plane journey. It is better suited to TV shows as its a 4:3 screen, but I have watched (and enjoyed) many widescreen moveies (complete with black bars to and bottom) on that 2.5" screen.

If you want watchable video and music with least hassle - the ipod wins in my book.

My son wants one of these for christmas. But we go to america in december, and thought they may be buttons over there, anyone know if its worth waiting until I get to the USA ( Florida ) or is it not worth the wait / hassle?

dont forget the virgin card discount works instore too, and they do it for 129 with free game, they also work the discount off 10% each product then apply the promotional code for the free game so it would probably only be £115 ish for one with game anyway instore

Depends on your priorities. You've pretty much covered all the bases in your post. The only extra thing to consider is that you get removable memory sticks in the PSP, so you can carry a lot more storage if you want to.

Personally, for movies only, I'd go with the Touch. I'm near a PC often enough for the storage to not be a huge issue, and as you say, it's very purty.

I am not sure because if you a buy PSP in America while it probably will be cheaper, if it did break or have faults or something you will be out of luck. The warranty would only be valid for U.S. buyers. I imagine a PSP would come with a warranty anyway. Plus if you buy a U.S. PSP it means you will have to get U.S. PSP games which can be a pain.

jonbinns thanks for letting me know about that offer in Virgin Megastores. I can not decide whether to get a PSP or Playstation 3 60 GB at the moment. I hope next month (I need my credit card statement to clear) that, that version will still be available surely the 60GB Playstation 3's will not all sell out until at least Christmas? What do you guys think because HMV are all out of Playstation 3 60 GB bundles and there are reports of them selling well since the price cut, but maybe not in demand like the Nintendo Wii (I hope):?

A big thank you to all who shared their thought. In the end, I just ordered this PSP Slim (probably the last one). Big screen, extendable memory for the movie viewing to meet my main purpose. Viewing time very close to iPod Touch, both around 5 hours. I think the reason why I went for PSP Slim instead of those two iPods is that I already got two PSP games as presents and I really want to re-play them (Final Fantasy 1 and Final Fantasy Tactics)!

Anyway, thank you to all of you again.

Well, it is, but it isn't as easy as it once was, you will need to obtain a special battery and a "magic" memory card, if you happen to live in Suffolk area I can do it for you for travel costs plus a beer or 2 :)If not you could post it and ill sort it out for ya, if you want.

Alas I live in south west London, does it involve using one of these:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Max-Power-Tool-Battery-PSP/dp/B000W4HSHC/ref=pd_bbs_sr_7/026-9147237-9703600?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1193151470&sr=8-7

Where do you get the magic memory stick from?

ASFAIK, this has not been in stock, not at least for the last week or so. This was the first thing I wanted to get when I saw the code.

I also checked the Oxford St. store on Saturday after seeing the black version on display. However, none of the staff were aware that they were selling it yet. One salesman had to really look for it on their system, and told me he did not have any information when it will be in stock.
