I got the RDR_HXD995 for only £10 more from Richer Sounds...Worth paying the extra if it's available...

It's now £30 more...

Is there any advantages other than the bigger HD?
#6
Ahh yes - so it does - I should have used their nifty little 'Hide Similar Specifications' filter (which is another thing I didn't spot first time around!)
#8
No Stock in the NorthWest I checked a few weeks ago and same today.

I am wondering if Sony are about to release a new model as prices seem to be going up with so few available.

You could pick one up for £159.99 at Amazon last year.

Anyone know if it is about to be replaced?!

No idea but rest assured this is a great piece of kit as is, I bought one just before December from MultizoneAV for £165 (went up £20 a few days later!!). The only thing it lacks is the ability to play divx from the USB port.

Remember you can get the multi region version for a little extra - do shop around if this is important to you.

The hack is well known, uses a One4All remote or IRDA port on PC.

Doesn't seem to much stock of this model or the 995 in Richer Sounds around me (Reading area) - Guidlford said they were getting stock of the 995 but only the multi-region version which they said would be £229

I ended up getting the 995 pricematched against Sound and Vision from John Lewis for £214

.

How odd.

Does anyone know why this should be the case?
Surely a DivX file is a DivX file, whther its on a USB stick or a disc
#15
It is, its just a lot more convienient to use a usb stick because you dont waste any disks
#16
Only one tuner
