Packed with stunning functions and features, this Sony DVDR hard drive offers superb value for money.

When it comes to recording, there's little the Sony RDRHX750 won't do. A 160 GB hard drive offers up to a massive 455 hours of recording time. DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW discs can all be recorded on and high-speed dubbing means you can quickly record from the hard drive straight to DVD.

As you'd expect from Sony, both playback and recording quality are first rate. The HDMI output with 1080p upscaling offers stunning quality and Sony's HQ+ system ensures even better recording quality with less noise and improved clarity.

Being a modern Sony DVDR/hard drive also gives the RDRHX750 all the benefits of BRAVIA Theatre Sync - connect to a suitable BRAVIA TV and you'll be able to control the entire system with just one remote control. Another great feature is the addition of a USB port. This allows for connection of a digital camera or other USB media device, giving superb flexibility from recording pictures on to the hard drive to printing them off on a PictBridge printer.

Can also record to DVD+ RW and DVD-R DUAL LAYER discs
GUIDE Plus+ System/set top box controller, Sky boxs etc
Divx compatible

No Freeview but still a great price, It's good at jumping adverts to.

Nice find

Its last years model but who cares as it has all the stuff you will need bar freeview so if your tv has freeview already built in this would be ideal

Good price, Hot.

Anyone know what its like at xvid playback ? The manual doesn't mention it but it can do mpeg 4 / divx so good chance it does.
#6
Darn It! If only this had freeview as well I would jump at this, nice price and machine though.
#7
Is divx the popular one ie from torrent sites you get avi - is this divx?
#8
No Freeview?? No way. My friend got theirs (A sony) in Asda for about £75 that included freeview. It was on offer in that store only. Only one though. What a lucky ******.

This actually £99.95 as a VIP price. All you have to do is register your email address and then enter it into the website. VIP price are honour in-store if you mention it. No voucher required. But registering is easy enough.

i got one of these using VIP. also remembered to pick up my free sennheisers (just ask for some). cost 99.99.

i've got virgin cable and french freesat (tntsat) boxes - so the lack of a freeview tuner really isn't an issue for me.

brilliant bit of kit for a really good price.

heat and rep added!

ps i also got the five year guarantee on the grounds that a dvd recorder and a hard drive are unlikely to keep going for five years - i don't normally get extended warranties but it was only a tenner so it still came in at under the full richer sounds price of 119.99!

If you run your Sky SD box through this, will it give you a better picture, or is the scaling better left to your 1080p HD TV.
#12
I got one of these for 109.99 too including the 5 year cover, which is refundable after 5 years if you dont claim (and have an awesome memory).

So far playing with it, it does play div-x files with no probs...but have not tested with x-vid..when i do ...will let you know.

There is no freeview built in but it does have a system to sync with existing freeview/set top box...though i have yet to do that.

I have run the sky box thru this and have noticed a better picture...though this may also be because i cleaned the tv screen :)

I have an older Sony DVD recorder with no hard drive and am quite interested in this one.

My Sky+ Box (with upgraded 200Gb hard drive) is full of programmes I want to keep so would like to transfer them onto a hard drive DVD recorded, edit out the adverts and the order of the recordings etc. then burn them to DVD. Would it be possible to do this on this recorder do you think?

Widescreen recordings have also been a concern with DVD recorders I've looked at in the past, how the widescreen signal is picked up by the recorder and when played back on a 4:3 tv if it's displayed correctly.

Seriously good price for a 160 HDD model.

Pity it wont play mpeg4 frum USB, though.

I have one of these it's brilliant - no probs - it's the berries:-D

Does this recorder let you playback .AVI files via the USB port (ie divx's stored on a USB pen drive etc) like my Pioneer DVD player does?

Hi, I wonder if you can tell me if the unit allows you to timeshift - i.e. as soon as you switch the unit on it buffers the input to the HDD allowing you to rewind a program 'on the fly'

The other units I looked at didn't and you actually had to physically press 'pause' before it recorded to the drive and then you actually had to delete it afterwards from the unit!

I've got a cheapo Wharfedale that timeshifts great but the fan's noisy as hell - all the 'uogrades' I've been looking at are a step DOWN for what I'd like to use it for :-(

Thanks

I have the HX870, It'll play DivX encoded video files, I've not tryed XviD but I imagine it'd work.

Best bet is to just burn them in DVD format (Nero Vision/Recode)

Nope
#24
can this be made multi-region?
#25
Exactly what I was looking for! I didn't expect to get some Sony hardware for this kind of money, that's brilliant! Thanks a lot, life's going to be a lot easier with this little guy in the living room...

Heat and rep' added.

I noticed in two of the posts the price was said to be £99.99 or £99.95 in the VIP area. I have logged in but the price is still £119.95. Am I missing something or was that a previous offer.

Still a great deal but would like to save £20 if possible.

Thanks in advance.

Same here price showing £119.99 even I logged in VIP area, and I rang store and ask about VIP membership discount and they ask me bring email print out or some thing !! any idea??

Just checked the VIP email it was featured in and it says the prices on it were only valid till yesterday. Maybe it'll sill be honoured, I don't know.

Just incase you want to try your luck. Got one today with 5 year guarantee for £109.95 and you get the £9.99 back after 5 years. Awesome price and amazing service I can't recommend them enough.

Thanks very much for the posting.
I when down to the Swiss Cottage Branch today with a copy of the old VIP listing (the one that expired yesterday) and they said they would honour the old price. Came home with the sony plus 5 years warranty for £110. Great price and great dvd recorder. Appreciate the posting. Thanks!!
(I had previously rang up the Waford branch in the morning but they said they would be unable to charge the old VIP price).
Cheers

Could you play divx movies on the usb using this recorder?
banned#33
Ok, i suppose it wont. But whats very important to me is the timeshift feature. Ive got it on my Packard Bell dvd hdd recorder and its the best thing, but i would like a hdd recorder that upscales to 1080, without losing the 3 hour timeshift feature. So does anyone who has this know if it has the timeshift feature? Also how noisy it is?
#34
Fancied one of these for a bit but even with Freeview built into the telly we would soon (ish) need another Freeview box to watch 1 and tape another.

Gutted!?!

You have to look at features and prices now not later... With Freesat HD and Freeview HD etc coming your going to need yet more boxes, it's always going to be playing catchup...
