I know there will be cynics out there who will say what's the point or it hasn't got a heart rate monitor or it's not a real SmartWatch (I actually think its better) or it hasn't got a backlight (not really necessary). Well it's not meant to be any of them... it's an excellent compromise (especially as it means I can keep my Z2 in my pocket more often) of the things I want out of a slinky piece of waterproof tech!

So this is my wife's Christmas prezzy to me... Jack Bauer is going to be ridiculed after Christmas down the curry house... who cares ;-)

I don't get it, will be in the top draw in the new year, pay £107 just to save yourself getting your phone out of your pocket, I use earphones with mic...everyone to their own I guess..i voted cold as its a gimmick and pointless..

you wont look a tool speaking into your watch..honest..

I would suggest you would be better off spending your money on a Pebble Smart Watch due to the better support and iOS plus Android compatibility.

Thanks, I've seen and studied the Pebble in depth... believe it or not I'm not an avid watch wearer and the Pebble is too watch like for me (lol), it's heavier too. The Smartband TALK allows me to basically see most things I pull the phone out for every 10 or 15 minutes... and the talk feature is possibly useful (eg when I'm cooking or dare I mention it sitting on the (_;) ). I'm fully aware of the limitations compared to a full blown Smartwatch, which are in the main bulky and ugly... this is sleek and when I want to see more in depth matters that's what I've got the Xperia for 8)

Couldn't agree more. I got the Sony Smartwatch 2 free with my xperia Z1 compact last year. I wasnt that bothered about getting it initially, but it hasnt been off my wrist since for the reasons the OP mentions. The only drawback is its too clunky hence my search for a wristband with notifications.
After a lot of research into almost all of the bands on the market I have to say that the Smartband brings the most to the table. I cannot overstate how stable the Bluetooth connection on my Sony SW is. Something that others suffer from as I understand it.
This band seems perfect. Its waterproof, a reasonably compact size and ideal for notifications while driving/working etc. This being the main draw for me. I constantly miss texts/calls as I cant hear or feel my phone in my pocket!
It was either this or the vivosmart from Garmin, but the ability to quickly answer a call whilst in the car is the main draw! Providing no-one sees me!

one last thing... I really appreciate Sonys commitment to developing new and innovative 'apps' for their Smartwatches/bands too. They have constantly surprised me with the updates and featured added to the SW over the past year (such as new watch faces, GPS enhancements and the ability to add wallpapers to the SW) and I know theres a host of enhancements already planned/implemented for the SB in the app store already.
Thanks for posting OP. Great price.

There is only 9 grams differece in weight between the Original Pebble and the Sony SWR30. Whereas the SWR30 is shower proof the Pebble is water proof to 50M, so is better for more sporty types. The strap on the Pebble is conventional and therefore more secure. The fitness element is more flexible on the Pebble as you can use with more than one App. Now the Pebble supports Andriod Wear notifications it makes it even more future proof. It also has a backlight, which may be a big point for some.

Overall I expect a Pebble to be in service for longer than the Sony so makes a better buy, especially if you can get it on offer for £75 but as always each to his own.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Pebble... but as you intimated requirements are different for different people. The talk feature, Lifelog app and sleek design just do it for me... time (so to say) will tell :{
