Nice piece of kit

Basically it's the network / interactive TV component from the BDP-S370 Blu-ray player plus the functionality of the Sony UWABR100 wireless dongle in a single box.
I bought one last year from a Play promotion for £99 ( when the BDP-S370 was £149 ) and it was great for BBC iPlayer and streaming media files.
Considering the large drop in prices for the BDP-S370/S380 recently, this really needs targetting at around £50 to make it viable.
The long overdue addition of ITV Player and 4oD to this unit will extend it's lifespan significantly.
Sold mine to my Cousin ( who uses it for LoveFilm ) and replaced it with BDP-S370 when price dropped.

lol do you work for Sony?

These are £100 most places, heard good things about them. Don't know how good they are compared to ATV2 or WDTV Live as they are at a similar price point.

A mate of mine has scrounged around & after 1 week of intense window shopping managed to get an unboxed ex display model for £80. He'll be pi**ed off when i show him this!! (_;)

This is a good piece of kit. However, as dga and greyowl said, this offers HD DLNA and USB for £80, whereas for £20 more you could buy an S470 Blu Ray (VIP Price) that includes this same functionality, plus a 3D Blu Ray player. If you're lucky enough to find one, S370s come on the market around the £80 mark too (at least two have been posted on HUKD in the last few months).

I think Sony have emerged from a crap 10 years, it's not difficult to like their products again.

Seconded. This is a great piece of kit.

Some reviews are saying you can only do some codecs over the network, MKV not being one of them

Any one shed any llight on this?

Thanks

I'd be interested to know whether there is full mkv support on here - given that Sony know how much damage that format is likely to do and their reluctance to support it on PS3

Sony tech specs

The SMP-N100 is based on the guts of the BDP-S370 so it supports MKV but not over a network, USB only.
I suspect this is down to Sony rather than a hardware limitation as raggets points out.
I think most people use products like Serviio or Twonky to transcode media formats the SMP-N100 doesn't support natively.
