voucher doesnt work if collect from store and there is minimum £6 delivery charge.

Minimum comes when you deliver home between 8AM to 6PM for charges of £6 extra.

So its 218.49 + 6 = £224.49

How much recording time does 40Gb give you??
40Gb will give you approx 12 hours I think
Can't seem to find a review of it?! :(
Can't seem to find a review of it?! :(

The 40GB version is exclusive to Dixons/Currys - try searching for reviews of the 30GB model - SR35E.
The SR35E is a decent camcorder, I've been looking around at them for my uncle and that was top of the list.
I ended up getting him the 60GB SR72, for around the same price, from a well known auction site. Voted Hot!
I've been looking/waiting for these HDD to drop in price - this is the cheapest (new) one I've seen. I signed myself up for one :-)
(this will get me by until the HD versions drop in price and develop better features)

-PC World has just price-matched online
You can also buy this from the Dixons site which is part of the DSG group (same as Currys). They give you free delivery and if you use the code AW5 you get a fiver off making it £224. I'm really tempted to go for this. The sr36 is 40gb while the sr35 is only 30gb. Back in April I saw this at the Gatwick Dixons duty free shop for £258. So at £224 it's a good price.
Im quite tempted to buy this for myself also lol

iv voted hot hehe
Does it have both NTSC/PAL? I should read the description more carefully! Voted hot :)
Does it have both NTSC/PAL?

-the box says PAL
does it matter whether it's ntsc or pal. I thought it's all going on your computer and converted to whatever standard you want anyway?
Cheers for the replies! Just in case I might connect and play via tv directly :p
in-store it's £229.00, or £218.49 using the voucher - but, I was told the store will match that (see below)

I got one of these from a location on the Strand earlier today. I then saw the voucher & Quidco in this post, so I returned it. I confessed that it worked out cheaper to order online and have it delivered..........the salesman from earlier (who turned out to be the store manager) told me that the store would price match the online price (less Quidco, of course), and that I could/should cancel my online purchase. I politely declined this (my first Quidco!)....his earlier chirpy attitude then changed and went to tell me that my online order "would probably take weeks - maybe months.....that's the reason people don't order online"(?!)
I explained that I was still buying from Currys, but he still carried on with his delivery delays rant for a few more minutes. As my money was refunded and my card handed back to me he became a right stropy **** (unbelievable that this was the store manager) and gave me total attitude upon leaving. Sucks for him that he lost his commission, but to be so unprofessional....

***UPDATE: online I chose free delivery - it just arrived today (24hrs later!)
Can anyone confirm that you can use quidco and the 5% egg money discount too?

Also any veiws on the quality of the footage
I have an Egg Visa credit card. Will I get 5% cashback?
I have the 70gb model of this Sony web cam. The reproduction quality is really good in fact I think it is better than my nieces wedding video which was done by a professional. However the drawback for me is that there is no viewfinder and it is nigh on impossible to see what you are filming on a sunny day on the screen. Of course everything can be edited but it is a minus point in my opinion.
Blimey, Dixons/PC World really don't want to admit the resolution of this camcorder, do they ?
Even Sony's website doesn't want to admit to it:

Well, I'll tell you: it's resolution is 640x480.

Good, but not great.

If you shop around, you should be able to find the Sony DCR-SR62 for about £250.
This has a much better 1Mb resolution, but smaller hard disc: 30Gb, and a really nice touch-screen for controlling everything.

Well worth the extra £30.

The cameras themselves are lightweight, come with a small (but easy to miss the socket) cradle, but they do their job well. No complaints there. Oh, and very easy to drag'n'drop the movies off the camcorders onto your PC.
This is a very good price for the camcorder: £217.55 using the 5% voucher and then possibly 3% quidco (so just over £210 paid) and free delivery from

Voted hot (and just recommended it over in the deal requests forum too)
Comet have dropped the SR55 to £229.99, plus you can get £20 more off if you buy online - see my post here in case anyone missed this. Amazon have the SR55 for £295 so £210 is a great saving

This one (SR55) is cheaper and a better spec.

according to the Currys website "With a 40GB hard drive, you can say goodbye to DVD and miniDV. Record and save up to 27 hours of footage straight onto the hard drive"

Also 2000x Digital and 40x Optical zoom. Damn!!
