  I have a standard PC with a built in sound card. Will these speakers plug into the headphone port on the PC? and will the sound quality be good through that or should I purchase a more basic set of speakers.

  Yep they will plug in fine using the 'audio out' jack which is usually green on most pc's.

  1. I take it these are wired and not wireless. Can anybody tell me how long the cables are from the main sub to the satellite speakers?
  2. Is it possible to switch only selective speakers on or off? or do you have to have all 5 switched on?

  I doubt you can select different speakers. You will have the active sub on always and your 3 front speakers which would be the most common configuration. The two rears could be unplugged when not in use.

  This might sound strange, but is there a headphone jack on these speakers?
  
  Headphone socket on the front of my PC is crackly so isn't ideal. I'd use one via the speakers if they have one?
