Don't think any GF will like them tbh!

i had a set of these for a very short period. Was sad to have to return them, they sound fantastic. Could do with better feet though.

& I'm none to happy with my nose, but we've just got to work with the hand we've been dealt in life.

My GF made me get rid of my bookshelf speakers and replace them with her huge Kef Codas!
I married her of course.

Tried connecting the plug and delivering the upgrades but it didn't work.

Jeez man, what on earth is it with blokes these days?....its all "wife won't let me do this" and "gf won't let me do that".....for heavens sake get a grip you lot, its embarrassing to read, it really is.

Are you going to go through life not having things you want just incase the missus might not agree with your purchases?

Buy your GF a nice pair of thongs to go with these... :-)
#14
Buy them at the new price, then return the new boxed ones with your old receipt - £15 back in your wallet.

Try installing Biggerboobs 3.0 and then make sure you use an antivirus.

Why would you use Sony speakers with that unheard-of brand Onkyo when if you spent a little bit more you could have had Sony?

Trade her in under the scrappage allowance for a new model altogether.

If anyone can find a pair of these I will vote it hot. But there are none in the Midlands.
#19
I finally managed to track and reserve the last one online...will be picking them up tomorrow...

ps: Is the price for the pair of speakers or only one speaker?

Agreed - just buy them and deal with the consequences.

Do women think about what we like when they wear those harem pants? No!

My thoughts exactly. Its shocking that a lot of men seem to be doormats.

Whats even more amusing is that when the girlfriends/wives wish to buy something, they don't need permission from their husbands, but the husbands need permission from their wives, if they wish to purchase an item.

I can totally understand if the item is of very high value, but for items less than £100, I can't see why the wife should decide...unless of course the man is a doormat.

Back on topic...
With regards to sound quality - does anybody know how these compare with the more established brands of speaker? I have a pair of Mission floorstanders which need replacing, but I've never heard of Sony making speakers which can compete (in terms of sound quality) against speakers produced by the more established specialist speaker manufacturers, like Mission or Tannoy, for example.

One available Orpington The Walnuts
#24
How the heck do they make any money from these? Even if the drivers were £10 each(which of course they aren't) then that would add up to £80.

Very good deal!

For anyone is Scotland - one left in Dunfermline, one in Edinburgh and one in Livingston. So still a few in the central belt.

i bought these from amazon last year, had to send them back as they were damaged, but i did give them a shot, and they sounded fantastic to me. nice deep bass that was pretty smooth, the mid and hi were very clear to my ears too. i genuinely could not fault them. I only replaced them with some Wharfedale diamond 9.4's as the sony's were out of stock for a replacement and at the time i could not find them anywhere else.
Many AV snobs will laugh at sony speakers, they are just not liked at all. But i promise if you give them a try, you will love them and wont be disappointed.

If I bought these, would I just need an av amp to connect through the telly? Not sure about having a big base speaker

Yes, 100 notes should get you something reasonable, try richersounds :)
#30
Would these sound decent for general tv use with no other speakers. I want a little bass but more so crispness and treble so I can understand what's going on in movies. They just look w little overpowering.
#31
please walk away, unheard of brand, for £20 more you can get a s.................. oh wait.......

Trust me - I didn't think I needed a subwoofer - but damn - I would not go back, it makes movies so much better! Explosions sound sooooo much better! So these should do a pretty decent job.

Good price, look pretty good too. Will make all the difference to a "all-in-one-home-cinema" with their tiny speakers, especially for music.

If you can't get any try something like these instead:

WHARFEDALE VARDUS VR200

Q ACOUSTICS 1030i

Q ACOUSTICS 1010i

Q ACOUSTICS 2010

I think there are many people who have still unheard of Onkyo... I myself didn't know they existed until DTS-HD MA, DD Plus etc started becoming the buzzword and people started buying amps with these decoders built in...

ugly speakers but good price

not in stock anywhere near north london :(

So can you hook these straight up to the TV or do you need an amp to start with?

Nah mate, we've all heard of Onkyo, it was just LOUGHBORO GUY who hadn't - definitely the greatest fail I've seen on HUKD... it's still funny
