Sonys are much better. I read it here so that's good enough for me.

I take it the HDMI is 1.3 and not 3d capable? Still a nice find but I need a 1.4 capable receiver
#7
Heat added great price ....

Does it run cool? Been looking to replace my old Yammy ax-620 which is in a cabinet, so would need something that doesn't fry.

Discontinued, if that's important to you, probably why reduced.
#11
Older model but still very capable if you do not need 3d
Play are also doing it for the same price

Only 100 Watts? Is that a bad thing? I may be interested.

I bought a Samsung HWC 560S which it says is 1.4 capable but as I never intend to have the ridiculous 3d fad at home I'll never know if it works!

Why would you want to pay twenty quid more for an unknown brand?

:)
#17
Onkyo are hardly an unknown brand in home cinema!

Anyway, this is a corking deal for a corking receiver! I've had one for about 12 months now having bought one from Amazon last year to replace my rather aging Yamaha DSP-A1 (a classic in its time). I still have the DSP-A1 if someone wants it (respectable offers only please!)

You're being sarcastic right?

I take it this can decode audio from the HDMIs? I know some cheaper receivers with HDMI slots can only pass thru.

Quite tempted - my amp can't even do DTS, having to use a joytech optical switcher and using all 3 hdmis on my TV...

amazing price. I paid £400 for mine last year. But I guess there are newer models out now hence the price drop. Heat added
#21
oh if i was going to buy an amp now it would be the denon or onkyos
#22
Play.com are doing this at the same price, oobviously free delivery. I should be receiving one in the mail tomorrow.

Those of you that dont know of Onkyo really shouldnt comment on things you dont know about.

Anyone reccomend some good speakers to team up with this? I'm on a bit of a budget since my current cheapo system is coaxial only so my ps3/tv can't work with it easily.

Yes they are, it's a HUKD in-joke.

Good price for the unit, but I could never recommend this over an Onkyo at a similar price point..

Don't think there's an Onyko at a similar spec anywhere near this price. The £20 more is from the infamous hukd onyko thread I think :)

I had the dilema of buying this @ £199 or the Onkyo 508 for £229...

As I already own a Onkyo 607 there was no contest.

As said before, if you have never had/listened to a Onkyo reciever, How can you comment!

(i was previously a Sony lover and still have str-db920 & a 930)

But at this price point ONKYO FTW!

Would recommend the JAMO A102 HCS5 at http://www.richersounds.com/product/speaker-packages/jamo/a102-hcs5/jamo-a102-blk or

Anyone have an opinion on how this would compare to the Sony STRDH810? £199 seems a pretty good price.

The Sony STR-DA2400ES would be a better I think. It is an older model but still a class up on most of the models around £200.

Some of the What Hi-fi user reviews are less than glowing about these units supplied by Amazon.
