Entry level system, for those who need a brand name.

The Sony STRDH510 is the ideal introduction into the joys of separate home cinema.

Although it's just a basic AV receiver, the STRDH510 has everything the AV novice needs and is sonically miles better than most all-in-one AV systems. Featuring triple HDMI inputs and an HDMI output, the STR-DH510 is the ideal AV receiver to use as the heart of your AV system. Connect up, for example, a Blu-ray, PS3 and HD set-top box and you'll benefit from just a single connection lead between your receiver and TV. What's more, the STRDH510 will carry through 1080p, Deep Colour and x.v. Colour, ensuring full compatibility with the highest quality video signals. Other sources are taken care of by a wide selection of other sockets including optical, coaxial, component, phono and composite. A socket unique to Sony is the Digital Media Port. When used with a selection of optional components, this allows for the integration of a wide range of media products, including Apple's iPod.

Although technically advanced, setting up requires only a minimum of time. BRAVIA Sync links to other Sony BRAVIA products via the HDMI to give exceptional ease of use. Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (DCAC) optimises the settings to your room's requirements - at the touch of a button. Other great features with this Sony AV receiver include an RDS tuner radio, Portable Audio Enhancer for improved sound from your MP3 or iPod and a sleep timer.

In addition to offering great value for money, the Sony STRDH510 is also one of the best looking AV receivers at its price. Designed to match Sony's sleek Blu-ray players, the STRDH510 boasts a gloss black finish and a minimal button count for smooth, good looks.

As a first step to proper, separates AV, the Sony STR-DH510 has everything you need with none of the frills.

You can still get it for this price by using the £10 vip offer, although I am pretty sure this is a re-post.

walk on, for £20 more you could get an onkyo...see what I did there?!

I have this AV reciever and for this price £130, its a good piece of kit.

Does anyone know if this will suppor the input of 3 Optical Audio devices?

And If I have a home cinema system, will this act as a 'middle man', if you like, between it and the TV, as well as my other devices? (PS3, V+, Xbox etc..)

The important issue to me, really, is the functionality an optical switch would supply.

I deleted my original post...too childish, and the jokes getting a bit old now.

With mine I have everything going into the TV and then just taking an optical out the TV and into the reciever, works just fine.

Hmm, I never thought of doing this.

Curious if it will work, will check for optical out on my TV tonight. If it is there, will my TV volume have to be turned right down, and the home cinema turned up to hear everything?

Ta..
