Got this deal sent to me on the Richer sounds VIP emails. Only available instore or via telesales and must mention the email.

Try signing up for VIP to get the email.

I guess you can't get the further £10 VIP discount. Maybe worth a try but terms state only one promotion allowed.

Guess the new 1050 is forcing the prices down.

Online price is £349

i looked at this and thought the functionality of the onkyo 626 was much better value, looking at a new amp myself and this falls shot tbh, in this budget range anyway.maybe they're trying to clear out the older models.

I have this amp and while it sounds good, there are serious handshake problems with samsung TVs.
Just google sony strdn1040 no picture.

I got one to replace a broken Onkyo (HDMI board....again!).....I'm pleased with it. It was this price for ages and only went up about 3-4 weeks ago to the now instore price. Still a good deal.

The only thing that really pees me off me is the "save the planet" brigade. Sony are not on their own but I am fed up with buying stuff with the manual only available online. It's impossible to navigate a pdf file effectively with so many cross references to different pages. Always allow for an extra ink cartridge when weighing up costs.

Well, that's my morning moan over. Thanks.

Anyone else confused by their saving quote? Says save £100 online price is £349 and VIP price is £299. Shouldn't it be £249

Cheers

You save £100 on the TSP typical selling price, a bit misleading as online it's always cheaper than £399

They always stick this information in the little bit at the bottom of the page that nobody ever reads.

£249 would bring this to the same price as the Yamaha on the offer page

RRP is £499, they're clearing them out as the DN1050 has just launched.

It's well worth £299, I got one a couple of months ago.

I have this amp and love it good for music and films with my projector.

Easy way to save £50 over online price IMHO - Excellent amp, the newer 1050 is far more expensive but now takes the crown agreed at a greater price.

Get the 5 year warranty for peace of mind through Richer sounds, If it goes wrong or you experience problems you have piece of mind. Purchasing this way you effectively get the warranty for nothing over the online price. Any handshake problems take it back. Heard about the Onkyo problems too, but being a Yamaha owner I can't really comment on either

Good deal at the price but it has been openly sold at this price quite recently.

I haven't got one so not really the cheap option you are suggesting.

I got mine a couple of months ago for £299. Preferred this over the 1050 simply because of the 8 input / 2 output vs the 6 input / 3 output on the 1050.

not really. that has no WiFi, fewer HDMI ports, 7.1 instead of 7.2, let's power per channel (only 95rms), this uses 500w of power compared to the Sony's 240w.

I won't even begin to mention the basic remote.

I really hope you haven't purchased that amp. should have gone Sony.

I demoed these two and the Sony was much more superior. Clearer and punchier sound. Build quality much better too. I research things for a long time but when my ears heard these my mind was made up instantly which was the best.

Yamaha. That is all.

What's Yamaha, don't they make motorbikes or something?
Onkyo, if it looks like a sofa then it probably is one.

Bush.

How long before the Sony 1050 is this price?

hi, for the ones who have this.
Can you output 2 different HDMI sources (PS3 goingto 1 tv and sky going to another tv?)

Also for sound output, can you have one source 5.1 and the other source just going hdmi ?

We got 2 tv's one in kitchen and one in living room, kitchen one connected via 15M HDMI cable in the wall hence the question.
#25
No. You'd need an ES range receiver for that sort of feature.

It's there for convenience for example if you have both a TV and a projector in the same room.
