This is a fantastic deal and a great camera. The best feature is the HD (720p) video mode, with stereo sound and 5x optical zoom which works whilst filming (very rare on a digital camera this size). I have a full HD Canon camcorder and the quality of this small camera has to be seen to be believed! Photo quality is good too - the lens is sharp and the touch screen is great for choosing a focus point if you choose and for reviewing photos. Battery life is its weakest point - but then the huge screen and image stabilisation don't help! I bought a spare NP FD-1 battery which is nice because it also shows minutes remaining.

Can get it for £159 if you don't want memory stick or case but for £5 has to be worth it! Personally I got a Always On Wrap case and an 8GB MkII Sony memory stick :).

From the WHE website:
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T500 is a slim and stylish ultra-compact digital camera featuring a metal body, sliding front plate and folded optics. Highlights of the T500 include a 10 megapixel sensor, 33-165mm equivalent 5x zoom lens, large 3.5-inch touch-sensitive rear screen, Super SteadyShot optical image stabilisation, face and smile detection technology, ISO 3200 and intelligent scene recognition. The Sony T500 also boasts 1280x720 pixel 720p HD movie recording with stereo sound and HDMI output.

Is this the same camera as this one http://techsohos.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=3817 which is £128.17 - obviously it's black and doesn't come with the memory stick and case

Sony - stuck with very expensive MemorySticks!

HDMI output is a great bonus. Better than the Panasonic TZ series which although has component output, you have to pay a lot for the cable.
Shanecr,
10minutes continuous video is actually more than adequate for home videos. I never ever had to do continuous videos for more than 1 or 2 minutes at a time. I just join them all in the end, with my PC, to make one long continuous clip.

Nice deal. I wouldn't compare it to the TZ series though based on the longer zooms and wider angle lens on the TZ's. Very different camera ranges.

Ditto.

Was all but about to order a Panasonic DMC-TZ7 to replace my 18mth old TZ3 which I recently sold before seeing this deal and also a lower down Panasonic model (DMC-FX500 at Dabs for £139). Could almost have both for price of the TZ7, so will give it some thought before making a final decision.

Cheekster.

Might be a stupid question but I'm not seeing the case and memory stick for £5...?

I was drawn to this website by such a low price. I attempted to contact them by telephone using their contact details to ensure there were some left in stock as I imagined they would fly off the shelves at this price.

Turns out the telephone number is not real.

More research on the net, turned up this info:

Avoid this site like the plague. Well dodgy.

Well spotted, looks like the old saying , "If it's too good to be true...................." applies here.

Sony - stuck with very expensive MemorySticks!

This is the biggest problem with this camera...

I've got a very similar one and it's great, but whenever you want to take your photos to a friend's house, you have to remember to take the poxy cable Sony make you use, as it doesn't have a standard mini-usb...if you want to read from the card, you need an adaptor or take your chances that your reader reads pro-duo.

Think next time I get a camera I'll look for one with standard, non-proprietary interfaces.

HOWEVER - not available for home delivery - instore collection only, and looks like they're pretty much out of stock (in London anyway).

Always go for SD/SDHC card cameras. Pretty much the universal type these days and way cheaper than Memory Stick or xD cards. If you're looking for quality brands you can't do much better than Panasonic Lumix and I've had great experience with Casio too.
