I am wanting one but in Green, holding out for them coming back in stock on the SonyStyle site as I want to upgrade it to a i5 CPU.
#7
I just spent £660 on the white one, did I get ripped off? Do they have the i5 version for the 14 inch?

They did on sonystyle and you could change all the specs on a BTO, but they seem to have taken it off (suspect they have ran out).

what was the price with the i5?

£50 upgrade to i5

It was £659 for this spec:

wow so iv just been ripped off, going to cancel my order. do you know when this will be back?
#12
Prices a bit confusing as they had a 'base' spec that you could add or remove things from. One week it included a Blu-Ray drive free of charge and then it changed to a free 500GB hd...

Its just the standard production models are quite expensive, especially now that sony seem to have ran out of parts and taken it off the website for configuration. Personally I would call up sonystyle and see if they let you spec one over the phone. Here's the other thread that most of the dicussion on what spec to order etc was on:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/669079/sony-vaio-14-e-series-laptop-win-7-

Obviously the 14" was more popular than sony had predicted, personally wish they had done a 13" instead.

Update:

Well I just called sony about this and they confirmed production has ended and will not be starting up due to some 'issues' with the 14" model. They would not go into any detail to whether this was a supply/manufacturing/fault etc just told me that once the ready configured ones are sold that will be the end of them. They told me that the replacement 14" model will be released in the first week of June (this coming week) and should be on the website in the next 7 days, they gave up that little nugget of info after trying to talk me into a 15.6" EB series but told them I was only interested in 13-14".

So all eyes peeled on sonystyle.co.uk for the rest of the week then, its got me intrigued.

I emailed them about it and they decided to give me a call. The guy told me to wait while redirecting the call to a salesman, who started rambling on about buying the older CW series. I asked him when the 14 inch e series will be back and he replied he doesnt know any specific details, but there is something new coming in July. So all in all wasted 5 minutes of my life.

Re: New 14"

Perhaps something to be revealed at Computex this week?

A friend of mine ordered the 15" at the time of the sonystyle deal and has now been given an expected delivery time of the end of July! It did seem strange that the customisable models worked out cheaper than the pre-configured ones. They were an amazing spec for the price. Blu-ray, i5 and Full HD for ~£600; perhaps too amazing.....

I think they are trying to get rid of any stock they have left especially the 15 inch because its older. Which means something must be coming soon.

That explains it then, thanks for the info. Will be interesting to see what the replacement looks like, hope they don't ramp the prices up as the EA represented quite good value for money with the recent Blu-Ray and 500GB HD deals.
