better to spend £20 more and buy a reasonable LAPTOP instead of this NETBOOKhttp://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/hp-pavilion-dv2-1121ea-12in-ultrath/743644

My heart sinks when I read these sort of ill-considered comments.
You're comparing apples and pears!

Sorry but theres better netbooks around. The screen is reason enough not to buy one. I love Sony Products but this isn't one of their best IMO. You can get ION graphics for this price.

I totally agree for this price you can get a netbook with better specs.

Windows® 7 Starter edition has serious short comings. Unfortunately, many people do not know the limitations of starter edition which seriously limit even some basic functions you would expect to be able to do with a netbook. (e.g. multiple monitor support, DVD playback, remote media streaming, XP mode).
Microsoft are making a small fortune from selling upgrades to dissatisfied users.
Some of the shortcomings can be addressed by installing other software (e.g. VLC for DVD playback) but many purchasers will be unaware of such options and/or do not want to mess about with a computer.
I would not recommend any computer which has Windows® 7 Starter edition.

Starter edition is fine.

Who needs DVD playback on a netbook without a DVD drive ? :)

While I agree that the Starter Edition does have some strange omissions (e.g. Network printing) I don't see that your average netbook owner would need multiple monitor support or DVD playback and XP Mode is only available on the top of the range version of Win7 anyway.

These are examples of starter edition limitations which are not widely known. Many people connect USB DVD drives to their netbooks. As for multiple monitor support, netbooks are frequently conencted to desktop monitors when used at home. XP mode was available on even the basic version of Vista.

These specific measures may not affect you but the limitations of starter edition should be more widely publicised.

I like the W-series VAIO as its a high quality Netbook with features normally reserved for high end laptops such as the Isolated keyboard and X-Black 1366 x 768 WLED display. However, the M-series in this deal is poor. It offers none of the high-end features you would expect for a VAIO and has the same crappy 1024 x 600 display as every other netbook on the market along with the Atom, 1GB ram, W7 Starter and 250GB HD Combo. Really don't see the appeal of this one.
