Yes it is a big boy and not really for lugging about.

Yes it says £600 off (who paid RRP?) but this is still cheaper than most - many are about £1150+ for this machine right now.

The HDD is a little small these days for a big laptop but otherwise powerful spec and note includes fantastic full HD LCD and also Blu-Ray rewriter which costs a packet on any laptop!

I have seen 1 or 2 in a few stores around so it isn't impossible to find if you search stores online.

i bought this form tec7 (at house of fraser)

Sony Vaio AW31M/H Notebook 18i £799 a much better deal.

they also have Sony Vaio AW41MF/H Notebook 18 for £899
i;d rather save a few quid than have pricier 500gb, £85 for external 1.5tb if you need real space, anyways 750gb 2.5" are on the horizon with 1tb 2.5" likely to be announced next year. I suspect this has a £150ish premium for that laptop bluray writer unfortunately, when considering the media cost likelyhood of use, bit of a waste, I wonder if it can be removed and sold.
None is stock near me as usual...
But there's one in Luton

To be fair other than disk space much less 400Gb vs 2x500Gb - both models you quote have lower res screens -- 18.4" WXGA++ (1680 x 945) X-black vs (1920 x 1080) screen

And although one is faster processor the £899 one is slower.

Oh and both do not have a blu ray writer....

So I suppose depends on what you want to use it for.....
