I have a 10% ebay code, so could get this for roughly £410. is it a good laptop for that price?
thanks.

If I hadn't have just bought one I would have got one of these. Is your code a single use one?

use up to ten times, ends tomorrow, think its just linked to my ebay account. thats why would appreciate advice as to wether to buy this for the price i can.
so you think its a good laptop?
thanks.

Is your 10% code actually valid on this - you will probably find that it is only valid on a small number of 10% overpriced items.

You could pick up an i3 HP here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/hp-g72-103-core-i3-250gb-hdmi-quidc/791107 for only £380-ish... offers far better value for money. This one is refurbished and frankly you could something much better for the same price if you check out the clearance vaio units at sonystyle.co.uk I think they were doing refurbished i5's for £429 and brand new "end of line" i3 with dedicated graphics and more for £499-ish. They run out real quick though

DAMN!! you are correct withabix, never even thought of that, was just about to purchase.
Is it still a good spec laptop for the price listed.
thanks for advice.

how does this get hot when my post on the vaio clearance site deals which featured an i5 processor EB series for £428 which my dad subsequently bought get voted cold... this sites weird... id stick to checking vaio clearance website and try get sumthing for this price with an intel i3 processor or up..
#10
lol just read hydromancers coment! my dad got his that he ordered by the way and is chuffed, its real nippy even though its the slightyl older i5, hows urs cracking on?
#11
For £400 you're getting Dolby Sound, a HDMI Port, good graphics and fast processing speed. One thing people also forget and often choose to ignore is it looks good. With the big screen the battery life will not be amazing, so you need to judge what you require it for.
#12
Thanks hydromancer, think i will check out sonystyle.co.uk.
advice is much appreciated.

Thanks for listing though coathanger, you are correct it is good looking, was seriously tempted and voted hot.

this is the page you want salty

https://shop.sony.co.uk/shop/VAIO-CLEARANCE/

worth being patient, there have been 17" FW series laptops with i7 processors for £486 in the past i think, its literally a case of checking in the mornings as best stock will go quick, often there will be nothing new, but just jump in there when sumthing in ur price range rocks up, you can always send it back

@coathanger, i totally get what your on about with looks, i think its very important things like the acers are often powerful but bulky and ugly in comparison, the processor aint terrible but id just steer clear of AMD nowadays when you can snap up the i processors for the same price,

incidently i learned to day the AMd triple core processors are quad cores they have produced which have a faulty/disfuntional/deactivated fourth core, in production so many of the quad cores have a cell that fails they market them as an entirely different processor as though it is meant for production lol...

thanks joeprosho, just had quick look but will take your advice and do the morning check.

I voted hot as well btw... It's just that if you look around, there are better deals to be found.

Joeprosho, got mine the other day. It's quick enough for me and I really like the keyboard. Battery life is slightly disappointing but that's it really. Unfortunately mine was meant to include 1 yr mcafee and ms office home and business which it doesn't. Sony have offered a full refund but said they cant issue me a new key or take any money off for clearance models. It's a great price even without office so not sure what to do

Do yourself a favour and NEVER buy refurb electronics from the Argos eBay outlet...

Most are probably just customer returns and a lot probably haven't even been switched on.

cant they even give you a voucher? that seems really annoying... id try pester them a bit to have sumthing thrown in, you can get a student office package for £39 and free internet protection such as AVC.. so there would be much more to spend but if you could get sumthing out of them.. maybe a free official vaio case! that would be good

They give a rehearsed "because it's a clearance model, we can't authorise a good will gesture" reply and they've given me 14 days to either keep it or sell it. Not sure what to do but if a decent laptop turns up in the next few days, will see what happens.

That'll be great! appreciate the effort. I can get the MS Home and Student anyway for £39 as I'm a student. Not bothered about McAfee as I don't like it much personally.
