Good looking deal, I am pretty sure it has HDMI output aswell.

Just sort of out of my budget, cracking deal though for good Sony Vaio and 2yr warranty

I have the FW11M - absolutely brilliant laptop! Has hdmi output and bluray movies on my 37" tele look awesome!

As I dont have a bluray player I use the laptop to watch bluray movies! and once you download anydvd, you can play blurays from any region!

If anyone has any questions about the laptop let me know...

10/10 from me and I would recommend it if you can live with a 16.4" screen!!

Mine has a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 (Total available graphics memory of Approx. 1400MB* with dedicated GDDR3 Video Memory of 256MB).

I have not played many games but graphics generally are pretty good

thanx zish, shall give this laptop a think, been looking to get one, but one to last 5 years, like the one my currebt one has done
.
#11
watch out for technology return policy if you don't want it - they charge for collection
#12
Thanks very much for this! just ordered one for my dad. Was going to go through the hassle of getting it from comet, buying comet vouchers with my virgin credit card(to get 10% off). for an extra £10 with marks and spencer I get another years warranty. Thanks!!

Best thing to do is go into John Lewis or sony store and see if you like the looks and size of the laptop before buying!

My laptop has a Centrino 2 processor that is faster then the Centrino chip...

£532 is a lot of money, so think before you buy but for this price you cant go wrong!
#15
Mrs Me wanted this one just after xmas as ours died....she liked the keyboard and screen size, I didn't like the price ;)

Have decided to do my bit for the downturn and have purchased it - thanks OP!
#16
really hot, one of the better laptop deals for a while, especially with blu-ray and hdmi out, if i hadn't brought a new one last easter i'd definitely be investing!
#17
Man this is tempting...any other ways to get more discount? I swear I remember a recent thread where someone got 5% quidco and then another 5% off but can't seem to find it as always.
#18
Great spec for the price, blu-ray drive HDMI and a decent graphics card..... voted hot hot hot!!!

This is a good deal. Been looking at Dixons and comet for this one. I saw the newyears day £50 off £500 spend for orders placed new years day at Dixons, but it was out of stock(and annoyingly in stock the next day when the voucher expired). I've just ordered this one - the build qaulity felt better than the HPs at the similar price and specs. Heat and rep given. Cheers!
#21
be a better deal if it wasn't in caps lol
#22
Great laptop for the money! Very good screen (great for watching movies when your stuck in a hotel working away)
#23
On the verge of clicking on the Place Order button....£532 is alot of money...someone convince me whether it really is worth the money!!

i'm in the exact same situation

also what exactly is quidco?
#25
Fret - Go for it if you have the money!! You will not regret spending this money!!
- Bluray player
- 16.4" x-black screen.
- Full HD 1080 display
- HDMI output
- Excellent keyboard.
- Green light when turned on and Orange when sleep.
- SD and duo card slots
- Wireless a/b/g and N
come on what more do you want for £500!! Not to sure of the processor on this but I have a T8400 2.2 centrino 2 that I am very happy with!!
#26
This is a good laptop for a very good price.
With 5% Quidco the price comes down to just over £505.
j0e (and others) Quidco is a cash-back site, i.e. you shop on-line as normal, but you go to the merchant's web-site via Quidco and they give you "commission" on any goods you purchase. Different merchants have different rates, but M&S give 5%.
#27
lol, yeah but I tend to be the sort of person who's reaaaally tight with their money. I always tend to see deals and hold out on them thinking about it and then when I decide to buy it....deal's over! Also, can't seem to get delivery until next week which is a shame.

But as you enter a voucher code for free nominated delivery, won't you lose the Quidco?
#29
fret - not sure on that one.
How much is the free delivery worth ? The 5% cash-back (although not guaranteed) is worth £26

£3.50 for standard, £4.95 for nominated. Will take the same time to deliver as well when comparing the two! Might be best to go through Quidco but not use the promo code.

Nope - I am sure you can get Quidco and free delivery!! You just user Quidco to buy from the site!! Should be ok

When clicking onto the M&S site through Quidco:

"Please note that any unauthorised use of voucher codes may result in cashback being declined."

In any case fret - this IS a good deal. A quick Google comes up with a lowest price of £585 for this laptop and, having bought the missus a FW11E in November (don't ask how much I paid - thinking about it just makes me want to weep !) I can say that Sony Vaios are very good (once you remove all the pre-installed gubbins that clutter up your hard-drive that is).
#34
Bought this exact model and returned to PC World because it was advertised as 4GB RAM when it had 3.

The system is loaded with Sony Bloatware (took 2 1/2 hours from Restore to cleaning out the garbage), and if you don't like Vista XP is trouble to get on it.

If the above doesn't bother you, the specs are good for the price so I would go for it :-) Hot from me.
#35
Ok the specs are good and the graphics card isn't bad. Not bothered about the Blu-ray, can't see myself ever using it to be honest. I have always wanted a good looking laptop though and with the Sony Vaio..you just can't go wrong! Ahhhhhhhhh curse you HUKD!
#36
Anyone know how I'd get sound out of this if I play video through the TV? Does it do sound too through HDMI?

Thanks

The free delivery code is on the M&S site if you go to the laptop so it's not unauthorised.

iv got the fw21m and absolutely love it. the 16 inch wide screen means the overall size of the laptop is not too big compared to 17 inch laptops. the overall speed is very good especially the start up and shut down times. iv installed a few games including command and conquer and fallout 3. it runs both perfectly at mid settings. i got mine for 770 of a private laptop dealer in london a week ago. comes with 1 year warrante anyway.
