take a look at this similar spec laptop for £100 less

I think people are voting cold because they are looking at the spec only, and not taking into account the value add of both the brand (which encompasses build quality) and also the warranty

I think £500 for your deal is 'about right' for that spec of laptop with the warranty, and you always pay a small premium for sony. But looking at the spec only, then £400 is closer to a fair price, and even at £400 this spec of laptop is not necassarily a hot deal; It's just the going rate

People don't like normal deals. They tend to like things whipped off the back of lorrys when noone was watching and sold on obscure sites, or things that have previously been broken and patched up by the manufacturer again.
It looks alright, plus you get the 3 year guarantee, you might find a similar spec one elsewhere/refurbished slightly cheaper, I suppose.

I would strongly recommend this Fujitsu which is £100 cheaper but have same cpu, 6GB RAM and 750GB HDD, choice is yours.

I've just bought myself this latest E series Vaio http://www.sony.co.uk/product/vn-e-series/sve1511m1e
Newer processor than the one listed and a bigger hard drive plus other new bits n bobs.
I paid £492 from the Leeds Sony Centre. The manager price matched the Sony Education price as I told him its for my (non-existent) younger brother. No proof asked for and everything done over the phone. It arrived yesterday and it's a beauty :-)

Sony is overpriced tat, the quality isn't there.

Lenovo or Asus at this price point.
