you could pay £50 extra from play.com and get: (which just like the offer in argos been out for over a month)

Sony VAIO NS10 L/S / Pentium Dual Core T3200 2.0 GHz / 3GB / 250GB / DVD-SM / 15.4" / Vista Home Premium / Laptop / Notebook

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/7747080/Sony-VAIO-NS10-L-S-Pentium-Dual-Core-T3200-2-0-GHz-3GB-250GB-DVD-SM-15-4-Vista-Home-Premium-Laptop-Notebook/Product.html
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a bit more faster processor for £50 extra. but if you were to use the net for basic word, and browsing net then the first one is more then effiecient.

For a it more demanding task do get the 2nd one if you are on a budget.

If money is no object then i would recomenda Macbook (£800 approx - get the 2.4Ghz which has the backlight the lower spec macbook does not have back light)- i relly want to get this but £1150 on a macbook seems alot.

Then their is also mabook air which i also LOVE. But that also is £1200 for the 2nd version. Dont want to get 1st version MBA (even though it £800 now) alot of faults and much slower then the new version. For mre info on macs go to macrumous.com (mac foum).

Read the reviews from play.com with regards to

Sony VAIO NS10 L/S / Pentium Dual Core T3200 2.0 GHz / 3GB / 250GB / DVD-SM / 15.4" / Vista Home Premium / Laptop / Notebook

What can i say? This is a fantastic laptop for the money. I'll tell no lies when i say i'm quite tight when it comes to parting with money! This was £429 well spent (by the way i seem to have McAfee security for free!). I have changed from a machine which is 4 - 5 years old (it finally died for ever!) and the difference is spectacular! The WLAN is very straight forward and i was on-line in seconds. It's super quick and i've only got a 2 Meg line from virgin! This thing looks even better than in the picture. It has a kidda grippy surface to it with lots of tiny in-dents, but the mouse pad is great, really smooth (there's nothing worst than those highly polished ones which seem to stick to your fingers with a microscopic amount of moisture). It runs lots of programs at once and doesn't seem to slow it down at all. I did my homework on this before buying in terms of similar spec models. The only thing i've found that comes close for spec was a HP machine but it was nearly £100 more! Buy this now before play.com runs out!!!!!!!!!!!

(but like i said before its been out over few months and the deal has been posted here) . If you do wait in 2009 new faster, more effient processors are going to appear (search centrino 2- future proceccors).
which wil be similar price.

For more info -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrino

The Montevina platform is branded as Centrino 2 vPro when combined with built-in security and manageability features technologies.

Calpella platform (2009)

The codename Calpella refers to the sixth-generation Centrino platform; it will be competing with the AMD Fusion platform[citation needed]. It will premiere in Q3 2009 with the second iteration of Nehalem processors.[12]

below is the £429 laptop from play

im gona be waiting till 2009 as this laptop im using and im sure the one you are using too is ok for now.

How old is this machine? i am thinking that it orginally came out at least a year and half ago (which is obviously quite old in computing terms, that damn moore and his law lol) You really are just paying for the name on this machine. There are far far better deals out there at the moment than this. If you are not bothered about names than are good spec acers and a fujitsu knocking about forum for around the same price (obviously the build quality wont be as good as this sony, especially with the acer) and if you want a top quality brand and well made laptop than this is probably your best choice http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152233

if you want a top qualitybrand and excellent build laptop.

years ahead is the NEW MABOOK. It is made of aluminium 1 sold piece. Unibody enclosure.

Not a chap HP. The apple macbook have been made by machinery, lasers same accurate way cars are made of with smooth finishing.

What the hell has this got to do with this sony. problem with macs is they cost through the roof for very ordinary specs. Also personally i hate OSX, I used osx quite a bit over the last year and it was horrible and it crashed far more than the other operating system i have ever used (maybe not windows ME). Give me windows or linux over OSX any day. I will give you that the mac books look good but i am not paying double the price for something that looks good but works no better if not worse
