if thats the only diffference apart from your deal being second hand basically then that is a far inferior offer.
i only posted this in the other thread as wasn't sure of the exact diff - but only a minor hdd change? argos is a no brainer imo.

This is good spec FOR THE PRICE.

Some classically negative comments from the lame computer geekwads out there. You know the ones who only use computers for nerdy online games and cartoon porn! ;-)

Thank you, sorry I missed that, I presumed it would be. Thanks again. Its has some great customer reviews on Argos, main complaint is lack of back up discs.
#23
Nice enough but the resolution isn't very good, sadly.
#24
Played around with one yesterday and looks a decent laptop as I picked one up for my sister. Nice solid build, with a good keyboard. Got rid of some of the preinstalled junk, ran windows update and put on the usual office pack/firefox/antivirus. She'll be well happy for £350.

i've had a Sony Vaio before and i agree the build quality is good, just behind apple notebooks I tihnk!

I'll be doing the same in removing the pre-installed **** and install Firefox to start.

I have reserved one! Thanks OP!
#28
As the OP I must admit to having a bit of an ulterior motive for posting, as I'm stuck on a decision between this and the Toshiba A200 -1YO on Cdiscount for £349.98

http://www.cdiscount.co.uk/Computing/LaptopsNetbooks/Laptops/toshiba-satellite-a200-1yo/f-613-179618.html

The Tosh has a better processor (Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor T5450 1.66 Ghz) but other than that am not sure about other aspects of the 2.

I have reserved one of these Sony's but just need that extra bit of persuasion.........

I personally can't stand Vaios with their poor build quality and general lack of things I want and too much rubbish I don't, but I've no experience of Toshiba. Samsung laptops, though, very good, as are HP.

Are you joking about the build quality? As for the rubbish you don't want, I presume you're talking about the software, in which case how about using the add/remove software option? My sister has a Vaio and it's great. Everything runs fine on Vista and Sony's customer service/after sales care is excellent. I would buy it just for that.

Argos advertises low prices but have no stock - known as Misleading Advertising - probably should be reported as this is totally unlawful for companies to advertise a low price but have none or hardly any stock or have no intention to supply at this price, just to attract more potential customers to their site/shop in order to cross sell, and conveys good price agressive image . Cowboy trading :(
#32
No stock in Central London and Northamptonshire.....=(

Anyone know any in London?
#33
I checked stock around about 8-9am this morning.

None in the 8 or 9 stores I was able to view stock levels at(with my sl4 xxx postcode). I'm in Windsor in Berkshire.

might well be - but where do you stop, i know when i last looked and extra £20-30 on every model seems to keep pushing price up.

I was lucky to geta sonyt laptop as part of the littlewoords deal - and it is excellent, some people also like the "brand" ie "i've got a SONY laptop".. so for the money this is HOT

Five left in my local argos, plus lots of people have posted on here where the supplies are?
It is a 'clearance price' after all.
