The VAIO NS is full of style and features a slim profile for good looks and portability. With smooth rounded corners and edges, the VAIO NS sports a relaxed and natural form that looks good by your side. Gentle curves also keep exterior dimensions to a minimum and ensures the laptop is really easy to slip into a bag or carrying case. A defining characteristic of the VAIO NS is a warm and natural surface texture that's so different from the cold smoothness of most laptops. Designed to complement natural elements in the home, this texture is also very comfortable to hold as your fingers are in touch with individual points rather than a flat surface.

Windows 7 and the three years manufacturer's warranty makes the Samsung a better deal.

Yep, just ordered the Samsung and won't be cancelling it for this.

This is an old model now, the NW-series is the replacement. I think the NW deal at Makro is better - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/601613/sony-vaio-15-5-notebook-vgn-nw20ef-

No, the NW replaces the NS. Come on, surely thats easy enough to understand?

EDIT: If you want some evidence just to check I'm not "making it up" see - http://hollowportblog.com/2009/06/20/sony-vaio-nw-series-laptop-replaces-ns-series/

thats from about 7 or 8 months ago..and they were still selling side by side then, the NW has more expensive models which brings it up to the FW/AW series NS series is always cheap and cheerful with top end machine being about 550 quid, NW has top end models that have blu ray etc that go up to 800 odd quid

Is it really that hard to understand that the NS is only been sold cheaply NOW because its old stock and retailers want to clear them out? The NW sits in the same position in the range the NS used to be. Look on the VAIO website FFS if you don't believe me, the NW is there entry level volume-selling model, NS isn't even listed on there anymore.

Its also mentioned on wikipidia on the VAIO page under current models that the NW is "Successor of the NS Series."

This is a good deal, but the samsung will be better im afraid, less bloatware and overall it will be a faster machine.

These are nice laptops dont get me wrong, but they can be quite chunky and heavy, you are defo paying for the name with this one im afraid.

Mediocre spec and still with Vista. Badge keeps the price up, but I don't know why.
#19
good deal, but let down by not having LED screen like this deal http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/589502/asus-ul30a-13-3-1-7kg-culv-dual-cor
