looks nice, seen it in PC World over the weekend, think it was £850/£900 there.

Im tempted, but know I can get more for my money with a Dell, but i've always been a fan of Sony kit.
#3
For something that retails at over a grand, this is a pretty sweet deal.
#4
If it had a decent graphics card (NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT) I would have probably gone for this.
Nice laptop though.
#5
You have to weigh up the style/substance ratio. Personally, I think this has both pretty well covered... which is rare in a notebook.
#6
Even the 8600 GT card will struggle to play newer games coming to the market .. the 8400 is quite a bit inferior to that.

As for style, that really doesn't bother me .. it's the performance I'm interested in.
#7
This isn't touting itself as a gaming machine though, so no wonder it doesn't fit your requirements. For an AV/Home Office unit though, you can't deny that it's quite the powerhouse.

If it had been a gaming rig, it wouldn't have been 2.7 kg light either! :-D

Is there something amazingly different with this and the one with the same model in comet which is going for 694 atm ?

I actually said at the beginning that it was a nice laptop .. just for £800 I would rather have the Acer 7920 .. same price with better graphics card and faster processor.

But if looking good means that much to you then yes .. its a reasonable deal :-)

Nice spot pbrowntwi :D £694 inc free delivery. Oddly the listing says 14" widescreen laptop...but the specs listing clearly has it as a VGN-FZ11L

Great find. I'm going to alter my original post with your lower price.

Can't seem to change the store association from 'Sony Style' to 'Comet' though Admin. Can you help please?

The Vostro doesn't have HDMI but if that isn't important to the buyer then yes, the 1500 or 1700 are both excellent deals .. as posted on other threads here.

If you want performance you wouldn't buy a Sony, its style over substance.

Thats what I'm talking about, its the best bang per buck I have seen.
