Voted hot, I know how expensive these usually are. I really would like one, but it's still too expensive for me to justify buying it.
#6
Hot! Amazon sell it for £663. Personally I hate this this netbook though it doesnt really have enough power for vista they should have stuck windows XP on it.
Even at this discounted price its still too expensive for me to justify buying it.

Indeed, but apparently MS has rules about what you can stick XP on now, and this has too much screen real estate, and possibly something else too.

and nearly half the price of a sim free 32GB iphone I know it's not comparing like with like entirely but as a portable media player this would run rings around it.

Though personally I won't buy something like this myself it's a hot price for people who need something like this.

was there not an additions direct deal posted a few days back for around the £300 mark??

Pretty, pricey and pointless.

If you want something small to access the internet with: Get an iPhone
If you want a small laptop: Get an NC10
If you are a Sony fanboy: Oh yeah, you probably want this.

You don't need to be a Sony fanboy to see that Sony make extremely good small laptops, the P series is a class above the NC10 which is plainly obvious to anyone who has used both machines. As with most of the netbooks the NC10 has a poor low resolution screen (Sony have the same resolution on their 4.5in machines) whereas the P series has a beautiful high resolution display making it far more usable than any of the other machines in its category.

Although I'm much more of Dell fanboy I'm not so ignorant to dismiss Sony's offerings, if it wasn't for currently owning a UX and a TX I'd be giving serious thought to this machine. I'd also never choose an Iphone as a small internet device either as it's overpriced, the resolution is poor, there's no keyboard and no flash support, something to bear in mind when making fanboy comments against others as it's somewhat hypocritical.

Would even be overpriced and pointless at half the price. Cold.

Or a dell mini 9 ( using now) great for pennies from Dell Outlet - runs Win7 RC like a dream! And battery lasts days for light use!

no touchpad
high res but tiny screen
low powered cpu even for a netbook

Apart from all that it's great!

The point in this site is to find the best prices for a product whether it is overpriced or not.

Why cite positives as negatives? Removing the touchpad is a sensible move in keeping the unit small and also maintaining a decent size of keyboard, even some 12in machines still do this. The Vista and Windows 7 interface can be scaled as needed to make it the desired size but when needed the much higher resolution screen is considerably more usable than any others in its class. I have no problems using a 4.5in 1024x600 screen natively and always welcome the higher resolution I can get.

What if you're a field worker, journalist or blogger. Even an NC10 is not something you'd pick up and take with you all the time. (Great netbook, I had one for 6 months). This however you could, on the off chance you have some time to do some work, or you just need something lightweight you can actually do some work on. It's for these reasons I picked up a Viliv S5 and stowaway keyboard.

Oh, and what's with the 'fanboy' stuff? Bit immature isn't it?

I don't why but when I read that last line I soundly thought of the words 'hand bags at dawn'. ;-) Sorry couldn't resist...

Agree though this model is handy as I know several offshore engineers who have them for taking offshore, as it's handy to use when there's no spare terminals to use.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Its annoying that even though it is still very pricey and it has a smaller screen than Netbooks 1/4 its normal price - there is something about it that makes it stand out - not enough for me to go for the deal but good price for a Sony.
Id make it Hot but cant find how too - any ideas...
#26
Not a sony fanboy , massivley overpriced as usual , voted hot because i think its the cheapest price for this specific piece of equiptment otherwise id vote cold the price is just pathetic along with most things sony.
#27
This reminds me of a DS with only one screen. I agree that an iPhone would be a better choice, although there wouldn't be much of a price difference if you bought it on contract.

Best price for this unit, but still to expensive/useless for my needs.

You can tell this product has been a failure by the discounts that are now on offer.
