Terrible spec unfortunately
#3
voting is not considered on the product spec but on the best value for money and this is by far the best as you get 2 years warranty compared to others who only give 1years and have round about the same price.
#4
Samsung NC10 instead,

+1 although if we get a comment of comparison that is helpful -

Strikes me you're paying for a name... And half of the time these days I'm not convinced the name and maker are the same.

This is a NETBOOK, your subject line says Notebook.

this is definitely a netbook good price if u want 2 year warranty but id rather buy something cheaper like samsung nc10.

Was tracking these for my daughter's crimble pressie - £270 with cashback was the least you could get white for and £299 for the other 2 colours + whatever cashback site you use. In the end i went for the W12 for £339 after cashback (in pink). Read some shocking reviews about sub 2 hour battery life on the W11 and with sony batteries costing £110+ i felt forced to go for the W12. It also has windows 7 and a 250gb hard drive so easily worth the extra 39 quid. Tried lots of different Netbooks in the local hypermarket and the sony was head and shoulders for screen quality, general build, style and keyboard/ease of typing. Pays your money and takes your choice and all that. Yes Sony costs more than most, but in this case you definitely get something for that. Found the Dells for much less money (£200 ish) via their outlet were the only other ones that I even considered, as their build was pretty decent.

By the way, I've read you can up the ram on these to 2gb (even though Sony says you can't) and read solid state hard drive upgrade possible too, to give you much better battery life. In fact, someone posted a link to Sony in Japan, where you can the Netbook there with both these options.

Completely agree, I also got one for £279.

Very happy with it. Although it might not look great value for money on paper, the high-res 1366 x 768 screen is much much better than what every other netbook has, and the Sony badge means quality of the netbook is top notch. Well worth the money, voted hot.

What a load of toss. Of course it is - the spec is where the value is. You want the maximum spec for the least amount of money. The warranty adds some value too.

In this case it's a litte too much for too little.

I'd be very interested to know where I can find another netbook with a 1366 x 768 10" display and a 2-year warranty, for less money?

FWIW Dell charge £80 to upgrade the 1024 x 600 screen on the Mini 10 to a Hi-Res 1366 x 768 screen.
