And 3% through Quidco.

I think this has been the price for this a while now. It was £50 cheaper at £749 around the last bank holiday with 10% code floating around for currys. Only thing that put me off was the battery life which is quoted as an issue in a few reviews I had read.

Ah Gillian... how to get my post voted ice-cold in just 3 seconds... post a link @ £50 cheaper lol.

I think I'll be getting it from Dabs then - thanks! (Thats if it is in fact a good laptop for that sort of money - anyone?)

so... even though my post is rubbish (apologies)... is the laptop actually any good?

Random question as well... does having a BluRay player with DVD supermulti mean it will only play dvds and blurays, but not have the facility to write DVD's/CD's?

Hi Davie

I just bought this one i5-430M 2.26Ghz, 4GB DDR3 SDRAM, 500GB drive, Blu Ray, HD screen, Dedicated Graphics (details below) yesterday from the Ebay techfurb store (techfurb is the clearance arm of Dixons Group). I'll post what it is like when I receive it.

This machine was new (not refurbished) and similar spec except 15.5" screen and different RAM and Hard Drive size to yours and I paid £567.06 inc Vat and Delivery and I will also get some quidco back on the Ebay transaction.

As Jeeves said I would keep an eye on the Sony Clearance store as well as the Techfurb, Ebuyer and Argos clearance stores on Ebay, maybe a better deal to be had if you can hang in there and watch those sites.

Here is details on the one I bought from Techfurb:

can anyone vouch for pixmania? Had bad experience with them a while back. Their prices always seem lower than the rest, are they one of these outfits who wait for orders before they source stock?

I guess it was a "good" post as you at least found out where to buy it cheaper!

If you're not in a hurry you can follow jeeves' advice and keep an eye on sony clearance store. Or look for an eBay store bargain like londonuk did.

As for the laptop itself you're perhaps paying a premium for the brand; the HD 5470 graphics are good but not great and the screen isn't full HD. It will certainly write DVDs/CDs.

I don't think the price is stunning by any means but it's quite a capable specification.

I have one of these. They're really good, but the charger is loud and the trackpad on it is horrible. Tried lots of drivers and I still have to change the speed and edit the registry every time I do a full shut-down - restart in order for it to be fast.
