I'm in the market for a new laptop and I just stumbled across this at sainsburys.co.uk. Looks like a cracking deal for a Sony Vaio blu-ray. Loads of RAM and a decent hard drive capacity makes it hot from me!

Worth it for a triple core AMD, dedicated graphics and blu-ray player. Although the blu-ray players are likely user upgradable since all laptop were standardised to accept SATA modules a couple of years ago.

The ram maxes out at 8Gb but should be fine as is. The gfx card has 512Mb. This is currently the best, new, price. Only niggle is the screen size and resolution.

RAM maxes at 3GB even though there are reportedly 6GB installed, according to OP?

You'd have to pay like £700-900 for a laptop with any kind of mid range graphics, this is just a decent laptop for general use.
Have to say that phenom II on laptops is low clocked so it does tend to get wooped by i3 but even older than that. Anyway you should look for a sandy bridge. The new i3 are lower power useage so they can be clocked higher while the phenom IIs are higher power useage so have to be clocked lower so it doesnt use as much wattage. Phenom II clocked at 3.6ghz or more on a desktop would be decent i personally have a x4 955.

Most 15 inch are 1366 x 768 resolution btw.

The deals okay but i think there are better for the price but for a little more there is this better lappy. Its not in stock yet but it gives a good idea of specs.

Spot on, this spec is really awful for the money... there have been tons of laptops posted with twice the spec as this for 499 quic, usually from makes like Medion which make solid machines.

I think you've missed this persons point. There is no point in saying this is what a products true value is if it's impossible to buy it at that price....

Thanks! sileonard, but i3 2nd gen at least really~
my budget will be up to £600, and the i5( or i3 2nd gen) and smaller than 14 inch is two main points i really need.

i got one gaming desktop, just need a light laptop i can carry with...

thanks

Why not? If the prevailing market prices indicate that product X is comparatively worth say £450 and it is listed as a deal for £500 then you base your voting on that surely! Isn’t that one of the main ways in which deals are rated?
It’s already been reported in this thread that it has been available elsewhere cheaper so it’s not as if the price is historically low anyway.

New but no blu ray drive.

nothing is programmed to use 3 cores, the graphics is absolute base level (intel HD integrated benchmarks 3x better) and there are better laptops for the same money.

sony - check
decent specs - check
decent discount - check
value for money - check

Something is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.
