Not sure what stock levels are like nationwide but I found a couple available near me (Newcastle Byker)

Be wary of this having volume limiter. My one is similar (16gb NWZ S545) and the limited volume is far too low even with decent in-ear, noise reduction earphones.

i believe that is due to some eu jobsworth making up stupid laws, if you update it with non-eu firmware you should get normal volume.

Tried that and it didn't work, it is a big problem for me so would recommend anyone check before buying.

Gutted OOS everywhere within 50 miles of me. Its also down to £59.99... id buy one oif they had any as sony mp3 players are the biz

No it doesn't, The EU versions 'AVLS' is completely pointless as the players sound output is limited to much lower than the rest of the world mainly due to France.

I can honestly say that unless you are buying from Sony US/CA/Asia you will have a limited device in terms of sound quality.

All Sony models post 09 have this problem and I'd stay clear, my w890i phone has a louder output than my E445 and that just ain't right.

Second that, I have tried EVERYTHING without success.

My girlfriend has an earlier model and the sound quality and volume is excellent. Which is why I was disappointed, even my iPod shuffle sounds much, much better.

Lots of other irritants are a problem but this is the major one. I wouldn't buy another Walkman that's for sure.
