I have owned my now for nearly two months, no cracked screen. By far, the best phone that I have ever owned. Build quality is exemplary! Get yourself a Stilgut flip case. Expensive, but total quality, just like the Z2!

I like the look of this phone and the quality feel but I'm going for the lg g2 for £260 instead.

heat added though, best price I've seen for this phone! Good find

I though that was only the Z1 that had that issue.

Not according to Watchdog on tv. Lots of unexplained screens cracking, usually when the phone is in the pocket and usually within 6 months.

I agree g2 for 260 is a better deal great phone. Also looking on eBay from UK sellers you can get a new galaxy note 3 for 280. Seems like a good deal too

Have you got a reference to that? I remember seeing the program and I swear it was the Z1 >

I would recommend doing some research if you are considering one of the Note 3's for £280, as that would be the Neo model (N7505) and has a much lower spec to the proper Note 3 (N9005) which still sells for around £350-£400

Must be the magical screen fairies that come out at night and break everyone's phones.Or could it be people breaking them and as usual in UK society no one taking responsibility for their actions.Hmm the plot thickens.

I have to buy one for myself, I have a Xpieria S now and I'm really happy (_;)

Great price for a phone that just got released recently! have used a friends and love it. only reason I won't buy it is the size of the phone, which is a personal preference. I find the z1c a bit too small, hoping the z2c comes out soon,or will go for the Korean g2.

Totally agree, 3.5" screen is the perfect size for a mobile phone, No need for anything bigger, Mr Job's said so, Ho, Wait.

I tend to agree with you. I went for a Sony Xperia S a couple years ago instead of a new iPhone. Terrible mistake. Sony abandons smartphones in no time, their overlays are buggy/laggy - and Sony support is non-existant.

The iPhone 4S is still receiving updates to this day whereas the Xperia S was basically confined to the bin by Sony within 15 months. And there's absolutely no comparison to the customer care you get as an Apple consumer versus the way Sony treats you when one of their products go wrong.

And there's absolutely no comparison to the customer care you get as an Apple consumer versus the way Sony treats you when one of their products go wrong.

To be fair, Apple customer care is in the toilet to, The wife has an I Phone 4, And her friend has one of the little iPad things, Now she got one of the updates and the pad just locked up with just the Apple icon on screen and would do nothing else, Not even turn off.
As we know Apple are pulling repairs in store, We have an Apple shop about 20 mile from us, But that's not a proper Apple shop or something, So have to make an appointment with the Bluewater shop which is about 35 mile away, So 70 mile round trip, She does this, Go's and get's it sorted, All fine they say, Drives home, That night it does the same thing again.
As you can imagine, Not happy, Has to make another appointment to go back the next night, On this occasion, My wife tagged along to keep her company and spend some of my money, They unlocked the iPad again, While they were in there, The wife had something wrong with her iPhone(Don't ask me what), And asked if they could have a look, Do you know what the man said to her, "Sorry, Your have to make an appointment".
Suffice to say, She has sold the iPhone and bought a Note, The days of just walking into any Apple shop and the staff bending over backwards to help are well gone, They'll just ask you to bend over now.

why anyone would buy this phone over a g2 I don't know.I sold my z2 after a few week.went back to my g2.the g2 has a better battery.its loads more compact and has same screen size.the screen is better on the g2 and and the g2 is far more comfy to hold.also performance wise there is no different at all between a snapdragon 800 at 2.2 and an 801 at 2.3,in fact my g2 benchmarks higher than z2,plus z2 overheats and the camera on the g2 is better.my pics on g2 13meg look better than z2

I don't see how people are saying the battery on this phone is no good? I've had mine about a month and the battery life is amazing compared to iphone etc, I have always had iphones and upgraded from an iPhone 5 to this and I was worried about the decision, but I am seriously wondering why I ever was, this phone is fantastic, battery, screen, expandable memory the lot

you pay a fortune for iPhones with bigger memory, I got this,16gb and a 64gb memory card and it's mint, cannot fault it

also have to agree about apple customer services, they are bloody awful, always appointment this appointment that, and trying to get through to them on a phone is just ridiculous!

as I said, I'm not anti apple, I've had iphones since iphone 3gs and have always loved em, but anyone worried about making the switch don't be, this phone is well worth it :)

A better battery than the Z1? Not according to Phone Arena!

Both the Xperia Z2 and G2 come with large, long lasting batteries, but the 3200mAh battery on the Z2 is one step above the LG handset. In fact, the Z2 scored so well in our battery test that it ranks among the longest lasting phones out there with battery longevity of 8 hours and 10 minutes, while the G2 scores 6 hours and 48 minutes.
#24
I have had both phones and a note 3 and the g2 has best battery life.note 3 second and z2 third.the z2 battery life even with stamina mode on was not as good as the g2 with no battery saving mode on.the g2 has the best battery life of any phone I had.and all on vodaphone same network.

Just hope you don't get the dreaded unexplainable cracked screen

That's precisely what I got with the Z1, an unexplained cracked screen and I had phone safely in my pocket when it cracked. Was a fabulous phone up until that point however because of the unexplained cracked screen I'll never purchase another Xperia nor could I recommend the Xperia to another. And furthermore it was costing 170 quid to replace cracked screen - no chance!

So what do people think of mobile phones direct?????? I'm seeing mixed reviews from this company mostly problems with cashback on contracts but also some people receiving phones with opened boxes and poor customer services?

Could anyone share their opinions before I spend £439 through a company I am a bit dubious about

Many Thanks

I did the exact opposite - Had a G2 for about 2 months and sold it as the camera was utter muck - it was impossible to take a pic of anything moving in less than perfect lighting conditions. Pics of my kids all came out a big blurry mess. Video on it was god awful too - smudgy visuals and watery audio. I tried every camera mod on XDA and even got a replacement, nothing helped.

Now got the Z2 and couldn't be happier. Camera-wise, a massive upgrade over the G2 IMO.

Apart from that, the G2 is a very, very nice phone.

Got this phone on Friday (Vodafone retention deal). A few points:

- Mine came with a un-unlockable bootloader (probably down to Vodafone). This means I cannot use Sony's official bootloader unlock facility, which means I cannot run any custom kernels. I'm usually rooted and running TWRP by day 2 of owning a device, and running custom ROMS by week 4, so for me this is a big deal, especially if I have to live with the phone for 24 months. As this is a deal for a sim-free device, you may not have this problem, but you won't know until it arrives (to check dial *#*#SERVICE#*#* and check software config)

- The camera overheats. BADLY. You should already be aware of the 4k 10-min recording limit, but I had the same 'phone is too hot, camera shutting down' message after ten minutes of using the camera app (checking settings, snapping stills, generally testing the camera out). I'm not happy with this. I should be able to shoot PHOTOS for as long as I like, and certainly be able to use the camera app for more than 10 mins!

- No wireless charging built in, and £60 for a qi-enabled case. Thankfully there is a magnetic charging port (I don't want to wear out the waterproof flap on the microusb port) but this means you have to buy an extra proprietary cable...

These are the only negative points for me, but it's enough for me to be seriously considering returning the phone. The battery is AMAZING, the display is great, the system is rock solid, the features are actually useful (none of the nonsense gimmicks samsung adds) and the speakers are easily acceptable. If you can live with the above points, £440 is a steal.

[edit] A couple more points I haven't seen mentioned. A lot of the camera effects (HDR and all of the 'scene' settings) are only available when you set the resolution to 8MP or under. Still better than the HTC One M8's meagre 4MP offering but worth noting.
Also, the phone has a built-in answering machine (obviously only works when in network coverage). This is intended as a voicemail replacement and allows you to record multiple greetings, and the messages will be recorded and saved on your device. Seems like a good idea.
There are also various 'events' (plugging in charger or headphones are the only ones I've found so far), which allow you to set up tasker-like profiles. The simplest example is 'when headphones are inserted, set volume to max and start playing music (you can specify the player, it is not limited to Walkman)'. Then you can set a polar opposite event to run when headphones are unplugged. I've found this really handy. [/edit]

Phone history: SPV M600 > HTC HD2 > Galaxy S3 I9300 > Sony Z2 D6503 (possibly soon to be returned)

If you're looking at ordering - the price seems to drop to £419.99 when added to the basket - so £20 off what's already the cheapest price around.

I called in to place the order. Went through the security checks and the sales guy offered me the speaker too.
Ask for it if you call in your order I'm sure they will throw it in.
Have to say the speaker is excellent, you can use it for calls and the sound quality is tops.

Having done a bit of checking online it seems as though this company are doing grey imports which invalidates warranty etc. Has anyone bought from them and can comment. The deal does seem too good to be true. There's got to be a price to pay somewhere? Also the person who originally posted the deal has been suspended, hhmmmmm.

Concerned about your comment i just called up Sony UK support to confirm that my Z2 is not grey stock. Gave them my IMEI number and everything checks out OK, not a dodgy import and has two years warranty.

Apologies, I didn't mean to frighten anyone. Thanks for your response and so we know they do supply genuine UK units. The comments I found was that Sony UK said they don't even supply this company, so I tried to check this myself after your post. Should be an easy thing to find out, I thought...WRONG. Tried customer service (clueless) and HQ no answer. Also curious on Trustpilot there are lots of contested comments which are waiting to be resolved, which still make me a little nervous.

Gonna try the phone out to see if I can put up with the size (...it is a bit of a beast), overheating and glare in daylight. Still can't decide between an HTC M8 and Z2. Anyway thanks for letting us know they are supplying legit UK units.

Anyone else like to comment on dealings with this company greatly appreciated.

i called sony and they said they would not take IMEI numbers..just to contact them when something goes wrong..
