I have had this for around 4 months so here is my mini review for those who are considering.

+ Excellent sound quality for the price, its a well balanced sound with punchy bass. Dont be fooled though, this can play any genre of music and sound good. I've tried jazz and classical on it also.
+High quality connectivity, never drops on bluetooth, has an aux which is handy for mp3 players. However bluetooth connectivity produces better, louder sound than the aux input for mobile phone devices. I cant quite explain why.
+ Radio is good, i dont use it often but its given me good reception and good volumes.
+ Uses C sized batteries which is a negative but those batteries have lasted me well over 20 hours whilst on holiday
+ Decent volume over mobile pairing via bluetooth. Even more amplified when used by a laptop.

- Megabass doesn't deliver. The boombox has decent bass already but don't expect the megabass button to blow you away, it falls way short of that.
- C sized batteries
- May not be as loud as some would expect given its description. Its still 5 watts of power. By this i mean it wont fill a hall or anything but its perfect for any room in a normal sized house.

At this price it is certainly a steal. Heat added.

What's your point? Do you have a way to carry your entire music collection around in analogue form?

Digital doesn't all sound the same.
iPods support apple lossless.

Bluetooth is even lower quality than mp3/aac codecs.
Yes the speakers on this are small so not hi-fi, but why compromise on sound source if I don't have to?

Also modern music will all be recorded digitally, not analogue, so the better recording will be digital.

If you're referring to APTx, This doesn't support it, It's a2dp, and even then APTx is flawed.

nope SBC implemented in A2DP 1.3 - hence why I said latest profile.

My point is, the speaker is what it is, and if people are listening to a single point portable speaker via a bluetooth connection more than likely from from their phone then they are not generally Audiophiles studying the quality of the connection in a sterile environment.
I don't believe that possible quality degredation from bluetooth connection would be noticeable in this environment with this speaker
and a degree over over analysis may have crept in.

SBC may have similar bitrates to mp3, but it produces lower quality audio for the same bitrate . E.g. SBC @372 sounds worse than [email protected]

Cheers for that. On my phone and can't even see the images! Thought it may have mentioned it in the description on the site but couldn't see it.

Thanks for the reply.

Looks sexy as hell!

Perhaps cheaper in the long run something like
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Supertooth-Portable-Bluetooth-Speaker-Adapter-Black/dp/B002G1Y7LO/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1403811269&sr=8-6&keywords=supertooth

Rechargable, Bluetooth + 3.5mm and 28W RMS to boot.
#27
cheers, looks good and decent reviews, £70 at Amazon, also lights up with music, can easily get some cheap converter cases to convert eneloops AA etc. to C or D width (as same length), and they last just as long

I have exactly the same thing - awesomely loud, smallish and with pretty good definition, excellent bass and (initially) battery life.

But I would not recommend it because eventually the batteries die and you cannot replace them. Well actually you can, but boy is it a job! The most convoluted anti-user replaceable thing I have ever dealt with. Built in obsolescence at it's worst! Dozens of hidden screws, clips and loads of hot melt glue. When they designed it they spent a massive amount of thought into making the batteries non-replaceable. Which is a very big shame because they also spent a great deal of thought into making it actually sound good. When the batteries die again I will replace them. But I will never buy another Supertooth - this is not how electronic appliances in the modern eco-concious world should be made.

Argos mentions 2.5w RMS, even if this was per speaker, this can't really be worth £55 for a 5W Bluetooth speaker can it ?

Hot, got 1 last time posted here, brilliant piece of kit, especially if you have Sony smartphone with NFC feature after you have very easily paired them, you can play up to 32gb of music wirelessly on this as loud and crisp as anyone would need, Or use any size USB stick full of your music, reads and plays seamlessly, and if you want to take it out and about here is an excellent deal for batteries on Ebay

Ah yes, all valid points but your forgetting that the lossless Bluetooth connectivity is set at 2.57 hz per mega quantum for a set up like this. That could easily reconbobulate the flux input or even the flux capacitor beyond 63.9 mhz if your not careful. This could have reoccurring effects in time and space and cause a higgs boson effect which would mean....... no one cares.
