I have been looking for a 4K TV for a while now and although initially loads of people said the software with the Sony's was terrible it seems like these have been sorted! Saw this deal previously on

I picked up one of the Sony 4K Android TVs (KD-55X8005C) from Amazon just before Christmas. We had one issue with the TV utterly decimating our network speeds but once we'd tracked the problem down to the TV it was easily resolved. The Android OS is great, the picture quality is superb... I wouldn't hesitate to recommend :)

What was the problem? WIfi And LAN on at the same time?
I don't notice any difference with sky hd when I switch it onto 4K and as for the hdr I haven't used it. If your on the fence over this tv though I wouldn't be, dig deep and get it ordered

I have this tv and it's the best tv I have ever owned! Probably the most expensive as well. Being a kodi and Plex subscription user this tv really is a must! No extra wires, and runs great since the new update.

If your on the shelf about android tv's don't be.... It's awesome

whats the HDR like? also does this tv upgrade HD viewing on say sky tv to 4K or standard viewing to HD?

I am using android TV via Shield box and it of he most friendly software experience I ever had and i just loved it. I dont have any sony TV
Would love one of these - but not at this price - JL are doing it for a 'massive' £250 trade in on your old set.
I don't doubt the issues many have raised about Sony's Android TV, but I'm ecstatic I ignored all the negative comments and went ahead to grab the Sony 50W805C when it was reduced to £367 in the recent Amazon warehouse reductions. My experience with ttheTV has been fantastic! I've had no issues whatsoever with it. It does take a bit getting used to since Android essentially takes over all the TV functions, but it's excellent in my personal view. I'm voting hot on that basis alone, though like most on this forum, I'll never pay £6000 for a TV!

sonys android implementation on these TVs should he avoided like the plague.... believe me I speak from experience
i returmed my 49x8305c last week
For that money I don't want android, I want a windows 10 touchscreen. That projects holograms. Of the future.

Good price. I got white one for £120 @ Amazon a few weeks ago.
where is the Sony Centre located?
Watch is great.
Top 5:
*Connection with phone flawless (Sony phone as well)
*No lag.
*Sony put a very good mic. Voice commands through Google Now work as with phone, it picks up everything I request. Once I replied to 5-6 Viber messages and it was correct ( though the messages come out a bit 'dry', no emojis or smilies while you dictate a message).
* 2 days battery with everything on
* GPS is working fine and quick to pick up signal

If the profit margins are the same as when I used to retail electricals back in the mid 1990's to early 2000's a 20 % reduction means selling it nearly at trade price. Now I have no idea how the likes of Amazon do it but it's amazing there are any real electrical shops still in existance.

Less than 20% saving - sure you could've got those from Amazon for that price (or better).
No wonder they're closing down. Sony & Panasonic have always failed with their High St stores in terms of competitive pricing.
they're franchises. Franchisees are a bit greedy on profit for example that branch is part of a company that owns some Panasonic stores a distribution setup and at least one store on Tottenham court road.

I just got them from the top review on Amazon. They did the job for me anyway

This one? Thanks

1 Home/ settings/system settings/eco. Turn everything to off in the Eco section. Set Idle tv standby to own setting.
2.options/ scene select/ cinema./ picture mode cinema1. blacklight between 2 to 3. yes just 2 to 3, thats how bright this tv can get when all is turned of in ECO section. contrast 80, brightness50, colour50, Hue 0.
Colour temp.. cool. Gives me a much cleaner picture also try natural. sharpness 50. noise reduction off. MPEG off. Dot noise off

Reality Creation manual. Resolution max. Noise filtering max. Smooth Gradation off. I personally find standard on motionflow the best. Film mode auto.
3 In advanced section turn everything to off. You could experiment with live colour on a low setting also detail enhancer but i perfer everything off. Gamma -1

Anyone else think this 4k is bobbins? I was in Richer sound the other day watching some Avengers movie, and the picture was that clear it actually made the film look worse. The Hulk was 10x clearly superimposed (yes I know he isn't an actor!) and the costumes and make up etc just made me think the film was an absolute joke. Sure it wouldn't have been half as bad in 1080p!
Good find. I'm looking to get a 4k TV as well. Had my eye on this model, but might just wait for the new 4k tv's to hit first in a few months time. Although if a good deal of this in the 55 inch variety comes up, i might just go for it. Apart from a impressive picture quality, I've read it supports HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2, which should potentially make it good for playing 4k blue-rays in the future.

Nice telly, I'm between this and the Samsung 48hu7500 at the minute but prices are coming down due to new models soon

billyboy1
Is it worth paying the extra for this ,over a full HD, its mostly for movies.

I was stuck between Samsung and Sony. From being shown the two side by side, the colours and image clarity were much better on the Sony. The only main positive I saw for the Samsung is the smart tv part as it has 4od etc... No need to worry if you havea ps or Xbox though.

Since owning the tv for a few days, we've watched a couple of blu Rays and streamed some 4k footage from Netflix. We have been really impressed by the step up in quality on blu Rays, admittedly, our previous tv wasn't the best he ready screen but from watching wall-e and guardians of the Galaxy on this Sony tv, I can't even imagine an image being clearer!

P.s we did juggle between new car and new t.v but I won that argument! Ha! Car is the next thing on the list. Maybe we'll get something bigger so we are prepared for the next tv!
My Amazon Prime App has also just updated and there's 43 movies and series available now from them in UHD too, some free with prime, some rentable and some for purchase only (still a stream, nothing physical yet).

http://www.topcashback.co.uk ... They give you cash for going through their website on to other websites (using a cookie to track).
E.g. Go to TCB, (assuming you have an account) enter the merchant name (Sony), then use their navigation button to go through to the Sony website. Simple as that.

This or Kdl48w585bbu. They are quite similar in spec.
Very good point. I'm not sure but are the numbers reflective of the age? E.g. W600 series is a year newer than 500?
Also the Samsung UE48H5500 seems to be getting strong reviews. A very difficult choice! (First world problems 'eh?): http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/samsung/ue48h5500/sams-ue48h5500
EDIT. In addition to the above. Having spent a LONG time on this, I think this Sony is by far the better choice vs. the alternative Sony/Samsung. This Sony has better motion enhancement (Motionflow XR 200 Hz rather than 100 Hz on the W585).
Motion blur is a big thing for me and this model seems to be much better. Found some reviews which back this up too:
Sony: http://www.rtings.com/reviews/tv/lcd-led/sony/w600b
Samsung: http://www.rtings.com/reviews/tv/lcd-led/samsung/h5500
you can get the samsung ue48h6400 for the same price as the sony though... much better tv
For £475? Where from? I'd definitely be interested in looking at that as an option too. It has slightly worse input lag but otherwise it certainly is a good TV. I thought the cheapest you could get it at the moment was +£75ish (without considering TCB). E.g: http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/samsung/ue48h6400/sams-ue48h6400
Edit. Serves me right for looking at expired deals :) Looks like it is available at the moment for £499 so not a bad option if you want 3D too.
Could you kindly advise where you have seen the Samsung ue48h6400 available for under £500?

The top cashback link takes you to the £850 price and not the student page at £765 any help would be great.
Thanks All.
The student link shouldn't really work according to
DarrylJohn

It's not suppose too. It's my "unique" link. ;).
When I checked out on the student site, it showed the £765 price in my basket, but when entering credit card details the £850 price reappeared. I called them up and they very graciously put it through manually for me.
I can't fault you for trying to get cashback in addition to the 10% student discount, but I think you may have to bite the bullet on this one!
The Student link should work, it's mine. Be interesting to see if it's changed on my app though. Pleased I could save a few people £80 or so.

...and save me £85 you have!

I've had the TV set up for four days now, and it's exceptionally good. The picture quality is second to none in my opinion. Having researched both the Sony range and the competition for some time, including 4K and curved displays, I'm glad I chose the W6. User harlekin's comments in this thread at avforums.com are helpful (the guy used professional tools to calibrate his display, so at least be receptive to what he's shared).

Audio is good. It could be better. I was using a Panasonic soundbar on my last TV, but due to the size of this new set, that's no longer an option. The W6 does offer the option to use the headphone jack as a subwoofer output, and adjusts the EQ of the onboard speakers and headphone output accordingly. I've hooked up an old Gale sub, and I'm happy with the results. I don't think I'll be making any further changes. Additionally, as well as the usual preset sound modes (cinema, game, sports etc.), there's a full "old-fashioned" equalizer allowing you to fine tune the output.

Playback of video, audio and photos via USB is natively supported and is easy to use with an intuitive interface.

I haven't experimented with recording live TV to HDD, nor streaming content over my wireless network.

I was pleasantly surprised when I connected the TV to a satellite coax cable from a legacy Sky installation left by the previous owners of our house, and the TV happily scanned away and found over 900 channels! Obviously, some are premium (Sky Atlantic etc.), but there are a number of free channels available, with a full-functioning programme guide. Slightly moot if you have a strong digital signal anyway, but "it's better to have and not need it, than need it and not have it."

If you enjoy 3D content, or have access to 4K content (or deep enough pockets to get a top of the range 4K set with good upscaling), then this is not the TV for you. If you have a budget of <£1000 to spend on a TV, and your core demand is purely the best quality 1080p playback you can find, then I recommend you consider the W6.

I just bought this from Tesco Outlet on eBay last week. They have one post that allows "best offer" I tried £25, £30, then they accepted £35. I would highly recommend it, very good sound quality! & they also give 12 month warranty.

Good deal but be aware the radio tuner is not digital. Just am fm

I'd see that as a positive as Dab is lower quality in general than the equivalent fm from my personal experience!
Thanks OP- will this work for iphone 6?

Unfortunately, ICF-DS15iPN is no longer available at the Sony Store.

I own one and its very good piece of kit specially that cradle, case & screen protector are for 1p now - anyone can get me that cheaper - I will take another one for myself... :D people just vote it COLD because of "I don't like SONY" or " I like cheaper Samsung"... :D

Or maybe there still is a chance to get it for £270 in sainsburys... (240 with casback)!?

Got sick of Samsung stuff breaking,
I swaped to Z2 tablet and phone around 6 months ago,
So far really impressed and the build quality is excellent
Would rather have the bigger Samsung note pro 12.2 over this anyday for a similar sort of price.

Not a great deal. I really want the 829 and a ps4 which I assumed this model was and as has been pointed out, it's been cheaper individually. I even left the Black Friday deals on bit items because I didn't feel they were that great of deals. The tv at £799 with sound bar and 5 year guarantee was widely available through price matching, JL, richersounds and many smaller AV stores like hispek had it too. PS4 has been seen better deals.

I'm holding out abit. Even post Black Friday cyber Monday has seen better ps4 deals and the 2015 tv models round the corner will see more price cuts

New model of what is round the corner? (confused)

New 2015 models of TVs that hit shelves around April.

Apologies, I thought you were talking about new ps4 models, I failed to see the word "tv" after you mentioned 2015 xD

Lol, no worries!!!

Agreed. Was happy to have a moan as the OP allegedly hadn't been clear enough, but then when the OP offered to remedy the problem he s**t himself! Timewaster.
