Wonder if they're old store stock, thats the gamble with ordering from these places now....
#2
What do you mean mate? Gameplay don't have high street stores, but even with the other places it would just mean it might have been sitting out the back and should be sealed - so why does it matter?

Gameplay and Game are one and the same, no?

Exactly, they have all the same stock. It's just I'm sick of buying 'new' games from Gameplay, Game and Gamestation and seeing them all opened and obviously old store stock full of ripped off stickers and the like..

Ah right, I've never had that but sounds annoying if you have! I didn't know gameplay and GAME were the same company, but that explains why their bargains seem to be identical a lot of the time.

Still, great price for this game I reckon - not played it yet but it looks good.

Yeah I'm the same. I can't actually remember the last time I bought a 'new' game online from Game that was sealed and in a new condition. I've actually sent games back to them because the discs on these 'new' games look like they've been thrown around the stock room and the boxes are all shabby - they look more 2nd hand then actual 2nd hand games that I've bought.

ordered from game because of game points & 6% quidco :)

Yeah I also recently ordered the Street Fighter IV CE for £9.99 but it arrived with a small hole on the top and the plastic window had been removed.

But as Soul Calibur BD has worked out as free (using my points) I've given heat to this deal.

Great price thanks. Heat and rep added

Great find, ordered mine and sent you heat.
Thanks

Would appear that they're all the same company :P Just had a little nosey at the homepages of game and gamestation and they're both parts of Gameplay (GB) Ltd. Fun fact for the day...

Just ordered 1 from game. Thnx a lot

Yes, it will prompt you to update.

"Custom Firmware" (non-Sony system software) will not allow you to continue loading the game without first installing the version of the firmware on the Universal Media Disc.

why would you bother buying it ? I thought thats why people had custom firmware so they could just download games?:?

The new software protection in this, as well as many newer titles, will require you to have the very latest "custom firmware" & apply patches to the ISO/CSO images in order to play.

In some cases the audio is missing, &/or the video output is not ideal.

Unfortunately I received this item as a Christmas gift no doubt at least double the price it is now.

"Heat" added to this listing.

its perfectly legal to download games as long as you have a ligit copy of the game you downloaded, basically its a backup encase the UMD gets damaged or you just feel it loads faster of MS. but if you get rid of the UMD and get caught with the downloaded version then your in trouble.

Some pirates use custom firmware for this and are clearly breaking the law.

Others use emulators eg GBA emulation with save states and on a bigger screen. This is definitely illegal if you don't own the ROMs, but a grey area (technically illegal though) if you own the games. Technically, it is still illegal in this country to copy a CD you have bought onto itunes, as currently any backup has to be on the same type of media as the original (so CD to mp3 on HDD is illegal), although clearly nobody would ever be prosecuted for this.

Some people use CFW to store the games THEY OWN on the memory stick, which allows faster loading, multiple games to be taken around at once, no risk of losing UMDs etc. Like with the CD/mp3 thing, this is probably technically illegal but it is the downloaders Sony etc are really bothered about.

Finally, some people use CFW completely legally. PSP Revolution is a great like DDR-style game. Also, back in the day, you had to have CFW to use shoutcast radio, or to watch video files in full PSP resolution.

So there are lots of people with CFW who have never downloaded a game!

cheers guys you learn something everyday! never got round to installing custom firmware on my psp, only really use it as sat nav, would really like some decent new games but the selection is poor imo, last game i enjoyed was god of war which was great, but that was ages ago!

I had custom firmware on me fatty for all the arcade emulators and neogeo stuff but its actually gotten to the point where there are some good games I want to own and loads of stuff on the psn i want to have access to so i went official :) for the first time since the psp launched.

Got 15 odd umd's now. All under a tenner.

It is illegal to copy software without the copyright owner's permission. When you purchase a commercial software product you also purchase a licence to use the protected software (video game) code under the terms & conditions set by the copyright owner and current UK law.

You do not have the right to make copies as you described. Only the copyright owner has the legal right to do so.

I ordered this a few days ago and it arrived today! Couldn't believe the price, I was just about to post it here actually but looks like I've been beaten to it :P

For what it's worth, the game isn't sealed, and actually has a price tag (£24.99) on it, so I'd imagine it's stock that has been on the shop shelf or something. But it's brand new, not pre-owned, and in good condition.

Can't complain for a fiver! I got it from Game, by the way.

warning beware, i order mine yesterday and it arrived a minute ago this is clearly old stock, my case was smashed up badly and falling to peices, and the covver ripped, there was no damage t o the jiffi bag they sent it in, what can i do im really peed off

Same as this. If they were going to send damaged goods I'd at least liked to have known before hand. Don't sell me something as new when it clearly isn't.
#28
going to have to waste a phone call now to get this returned :S
#29
Can't you file a returns request online?

just received mine today, same as quite a few others, Not brand new factory sealed condition, obvious price sticker residue at the front of the case, obviously instore stock with handling/storage wear, sealed on one side with the small "28 Day Returns Policy" Game seal, I don't even want to open it don't know what the inside is like, and don't know if it'll affect the returns process.

so be careful when ordering these very cheap on "sale" games even if it says "new", most likely Game/Gamestation/Gameplay getting rid of old stock. As Game/Gamestion are usually over priced, I only order from them on sales, out of the 15 games I ordered from them 5 have been old, opened, storage/handling worn stock, condition not much better than preowned, quite a high percentage of old stock compared to others like amazon, play thehut etc's sales stock, hmv is another who sometimes sends out old stock for their cheap sales, but tbh personally have received old looking opened stock from all retailers, but the likelyhood of it happening with Game is the highest, so now are very weary of ordering from them.

Mine didn't even have the 28 Days Returns seal.
#32
Expired now - all three sources have more than doubled the price :(
