i work for a website ticketseller, and this deal tends to rotate every now and then. Be aware that you get no choice of seats and its assigned by the theatre on the day at random, depending on how many seats are sold already. Thats how most sites work on these types of deals hence the ridiculously low price. Good deal tho, and better than staff get!

Check out seating plan in advance in case you dont like that scenario. Cheap and cheerful.

are the £10 ticket seats actually worth the money or are they restricted view?
#3
I believe as long as it does not warn you during the buying process that they are restricted view, they cannot assign you restricted view tickets.

What if you decide to collect the tickets in advance from the box office (e.g. tomorrow)? Will you get the best available seats as of tomorrow?

I've done this before for Les Miserables and you had to collect them on the day of the performance.

I want to get four tickets for this, as the allocation is done at the theatre will we get four seats together? Or will it depend on how many seats are left and we might get separated?

thanks

Let me help you out here as i work in the website booking biz.

You would get 4 seats together or such, not seperated out all over the theatre if thats what you are worried about. But if you have special needs - like a wheelchair or such - then avoid this deal.

When you buy any ticket on the web (or at a kiosk/store) its essentially done from an allocation or block of tickets made availble by the theatre to the vendor. The site use up their "seats" (could be a row, could be randomlly placed) and no other vendor can sell those same seats. Typically if the operation is online you can get this done realtime, so the allocations can resize if that set of seat stock runs out or low. But the seat numbers (with exception of the sites where they actually give you a seat number back like ticketmaster) isnt done until the day of the show as its not realtime. Its done when the theatre gets its list of sold seats from each allocation block up on screen to print for box office collection (on the day). Its then that your seats get assigned. Vendors that arent online in realtime send in faxes or emails of the sold seat lists in some cases - e.g. cos there isnt a direct connection to the theatre's system so its just a manual list on the day. The theatre gets it and prints the tickets - typically as fast as they can as they are busy all day already.

Ultimately, on any cheaper seats the latter occurs and any expensive seats the "preallocation" occurs. Theatres will not enter into discussing it as its the VENDOR who sold the ticket (the website) so they can push off responsibility to the seller. Theatres are also well aware of the huge discount on offer, and therefore wont be interested in arranging seats on anything other than the most flexible basis to suit THEM on that day. This is a seat filling exercise, hence the discount. You wont usually get a restricted view, but if you do get that then you could complain and ask for a refund AS WELL AS SEEING THE SHOW or exchange for BETTER TICKETS by complaining to the manager. Typically there will be other seats available on the night unless its a stonking sellout.

The other factor is simply to check the seating area is appropriate for the show itself. In this case, the stage for SOM has an extension that jutts out for the nuns to walk around (a semi circle). Some seats (like upper) may not get all the action in that area. Google around for more info on things like that as it would affect kids or smaller adults view.

Personally i think there will be good deals in Feb as money and tourists dry up. You may see a few shows closing also pretty quickly, or being cancelled. Best get out and see anything you really want to see while you still can. HAving said that - Lion King will be on FOREVER. :-)
