i have been looking for something like this for a while, that'll play mp3s from a central server, and also internet radio. 2 questions:
1. does it have batteries (want to be able to use it outdoors/in the garage) :).
2. does it play the BBC internet radio stations? (because those are the ones i'll listen to most, even with all the content available on the internets).

thank you in advance! ;-)

answering my own question: no, it doesn't play real streams, so no BBC radio without converting thro a PC (or something).

I think what you need is Reciva-based radio. If you need battery-powered one then take a look at Revo Piko WiFi radio.

Are you sure it doesn't play BBC radio stations? The Soundbridge M1001 plays all the BBC radio stations.

customer review on amazon:

By M. Webster "webbo73" - not currently real audio though so can't play several of the BBC services without a PC and conversion progs.

that was october 2006, so it's quite likely that it's been updated since. but nothing official that i can see.

Kommunist - you're right, i do. apart from the speakers on that one. i much prefer the design of this, and the speakers look much better, too.

Just checked on the SB forum for you and you can listen to the BBC radio stations via WMA format on the SB Radio. There was an issue a couple of months ago (I think the BBC changed something their end) so SB software was updated to accommodate. I wasn't sure if that was for just the SB M1001 or the SB Radio, too. But it's for both, as long as you're listening within the UK. HTH. :)
